ATTENTION FAMILIES!!!!

Kratom: “Natural” doesn’t always mean safe ⚠️

You may have seen kratom (Mitragyna speciosa) sold in v**e shops, gas stations, or online—often labeled as an herbal supplement. But families should know:

👉 Kratom acts on the same brain receptors as opioids
👉 It can be habit-forming, especially for teens
👉 Effects are unpredictable: energy at low doses, sedation at higher doses
👉 Products are not well regulated—contents and strength can vary

Why this matters for teens:
The developing brain is more vulnerable to dependence, mood changes, and risky patterns of use. What starts as “trying something natural” can quickly become something harder to stop.

Watch for warning signs:
• Mood swings or irritability
• Changes in sleep or energy
• Nausea or appetite changes
• Declining school performance

Start the conversation:
Keep it open and judgment-free. Ask what they’ve heard and share facts—not fear.
