🌈 Autism Awareness Month – Therapist Spotlight 🌈
Why did you choose a career in ABA?
Name: Ryan M., RBT
Role: Behavior Technician
I witnessed a traumatic event that deeply affected me. About a year later, I was staying at Plum Village, a Buddhist monastery in France, and I was still struggling with a lot of emotional pain from the experience. So, one night, standing in front of the great bell, I made the Bodhisattva vow—to dedicate my life to helping others as a way to make sense of what had happened. After that, I started a social business and worked on it for some time. Later, while looking for a job, I searched “helping people” on Indeed and applied to one of the few roles that came up—a caregiver position. I felt like I received some good signs pointing me in that direction, so I took the job and worked as a caregiver for about two years. Eventually, I transitioned into ABA therapy, which felt like a logical next step in continuing to help others.

Why did you choose a career in ABA?
Name: Andrea K., BCBA, LBA
Role: Senior BCBA Supervisor at CTAC
I was always drawn to working with this population since I was in Elementary school, but I didn't know exactly what I wanted to do until high school. In my Junior & Senior years of high school, I volunteered at a Verbal Behavior clinic and fell in love with behavior analysis. I loved the clients and was blown away by the progress I witnessed.

🌈 Autism Awareness Month – Therapist Spotlight 🌈
Why did you choose a career in ABA?
Name: Sam B., BCaBA, LBA
Role: ABA Supervisor- Houston In-Home Services
"I chose ABA as a career after falling in love with the science and seeing how it makes such a positive impact on the lives of the learners, their families and communities. It has truly been an honor to work alongside some of the best behavior analysts and learn from them every day. Ultimately, the best teachers have been all the amazing clients I've had the pleasure of working with over the past 14+ years that I've been in this field."
