January is Cervical Health Awareness Month, a time dedicated to spreading awareness about preventing and detecting cervical cancer early. The 2026 focus is on reducing cases of this highly preventable disease by encouraging regular screenings like Pap smears and HPV tests, along with promoting the HPV vaccine. Throughout the month, the teal ribbon is used to raise awareness, reduce stigma around reproductive health, and remind women to take an active role in protecting their cervical health.

One important part of the month is Cervical Cancer Prevention Week, taking place January 19–25, 2026. During this week, organizations around the world work toward the World Health Organization’s 90-70-90 goals for 2030 — meaning 90% of people vaccinated, 70% screened, and 90% of those diagnosed receiving proper treatment. This year also highlights how healthy lifestyle choices, like not smoking and practicing safe s*x, play a big role in lowering the risk of cervical cancer and protecting future generations.
