A friend suggested this place and then said, "Oh yeah, you write a food blog on FB don't you?" Must say the portions were large and food was delivered hot. Must say, I was impressed and the pricing was extremely reasonable. The South Side has a new "go-to" place...

If you're looking for a place that provides a stuck up attitude and stand-off people serving you, this isn't the place for you... There was nothing but professionalism and a personal touch afforded to every aspect of the dining experience. Affordable and conveniently located right off the highway coming or going. Really appreciated the true meaning of hospitality displayed... Oh by the way, the food was outstanding...Trust me i have a new one added to the list. Got my spicy groove on with this new (to me) spot in the 04. Food was excellent and the atmosphere and wait staff were a welcomed pleasant combo. Lunch buffet was less than $10 and was easily worth $20. Try 'em out and be sure to tell them Austin Eats sent ya

South Austin Gem is all I can say about this place. The greeting I received walking in the door and the hospitality were a sight to see. I ordered a little bit of everything, known as the Seafood Platter. It included fish, shrimp, oysters, gumbo, cole slaw, fries and beans. It was reasonable too. Only $14.99 for all that food. In making a decision on where to dine for a more date friendly place... You make want to check out ALC, since the atmosphere, location and general mood lead you right into a much needed quality time spent situation. For starters, the appetizer I had was Oysters Texafeller (we dont do Rockefellers down South). It was large oysters with spinach and cheese and a salsa to top it off. Then I ordered the 10 oz. sirloin with a buttery hollandaize (spell check (:/...) It was cooked perfectly and was very flavorful along with the grilled crisp asparagus. Have to say it was pure awesomeness for the evening. Our server, Rachel, did way more than expected and always made us feel like she only had one table to manage. Great place and experience.
