We are so proud of Dr. Shereen Khan!

Pediatrician Shereen Alikhan, MD, has hosted both Hard Hats for Little Heads and Texas BookShare events in her community for several years. She is also president of the Fort Bend Medical Society, and members of the society join her in hosting the outreach programs.

Dr. Alikhan said she is passionate about promoting health and wellness in children. She has given away more than 700 helmets and 3,000 books over the years. “As you go through life, it’s always nice to come back full circle and be able to give back to the community that gave you so much,” said Dr. Alikhan.

WE NEED VOLUNTEERS!

Fort Bend Medical Society will have a table at the YMCA Healthy Kids Day Event on Saturday, April 26, 2025 from 10-12 noon.

We need physician and non-physician volunteers to help fit kids for helmets and give "book prescriptions" to promote the importance of reading.

It is a fun and fulfilling event, so please contact sara.regalado@texmed.org if you are able to help!

DSHS continues to track the measles outbreak in the South Plains and Panhandle.

As of today, 146 cases have been identified since late January.

A school-aged child, who lived in the outbreak area, died on Wednesday. The child was not vaccinated.

Immunization with two doses of MMR vaccine protects you from getting sick and stops the outbreak from spreading.

Great turnout tonight at the first CME Dinner and Joint Meeting of the Fort Bend Medical Society & Harris CMS Southwest Chapter!

An enlightening talk was given by Dr. Ann Friedman, from the Jung Institute, on "Calming Intense Emotional Distress - What Can You Do to Take Charge?" with a great animated discussion afterwards.
