Congratulations to our Spotlight Employee, Corienne Scott. Corienne has been part of The Cedars team for nearly 11 years as our Housekeeping Director. She was nominated by a fellow team member for helping with the activities department’s play performance.

While Corienne has an important role in ensuring that The Cedars and resident apartments are clean and well cared for, she is always willing to lend a hand in other departments when needed. We are thankful to have Corienne on our team and grateful to have her as part of The Cedars family.

Congratulations to our Employee of the Month, Haley Vandeweerd! Haley has been a Residential Care Assistant for more than five years and also serves as one of our lead aides. She was nominated by a resident who describes her as a sweetheart—strong, friendly, and efficient.

Haley typically works overnight shifts but still finds time to help residents get dressed in the morning whenever she can. The resident who nominated her shared that Haley always knows how to make him smile and laugh.

We are honored to have Haley on our team. She consistently goes above and beyond—covering shifts, lending a hand wherever needed, and making sure our residents are well cared for. We are truly grateful to have Haley as part of The Cedars family.

Happy Maintenance Worker Day! We think we have the A-Team at the Cedars. We like to thank Alvin, Jessica & Pat for all their very hard work and dedication. From fixing a sink to replacing a light bulb. Nothing is too hard or too easy for this A-Team!

On Tuesday of this week, we had our 1st 40-year Anniversary Celebration of the Cedars for this year! We had our Groundbreaking Party, and it was a total blast! We had history of the Cedars, history of Darrell Farr, trivia of the Cedars, crossword puzzle of the Cedars, dirt cups for a snack, green punch, stories from the residents who worked at the Holiday Inn or Red Cedars Inn & stories from residents and staff to which they had a loved one's or friends that lived here at the Cedars. It was such an amazing experience, and we had so much fun.

In 1986, the vision for The Cedars of Austin began to take shape.

These photos capture moments from our groundbreaking in February 1986—the very beginning of a community that has been family owned and operated from day one.

For 40 years, that family involvement and steady leadership have guided everything we do, shaping a place centered on care, compassion, and a genuine commitment to the people who call The Cedars home.

As we celebrate this milestone year, we’re grateful to the families, team members, and Austin community who have been part of this journey—and we look ahead with appreciation for the years still to come.
