VACCINE SCHEDULE PRACTICE POLICY
Before we dive in, the picture below is my now 15-year-old when she was working with me when we first opened to pass out lollipops to patients after vaccines : ) Time flies! Over the last 9 years, it has been an absolute blast to grow this practice and develop patient relationships that have been such a blessing to all of us. As you can imagine this has been a very stressful time for pediatricians and parents. All of our providers and staff are parents as well and we want you to remember that every day we care for your children as our own!

Wildflower Pediatrics follows the recommended vaccine schedule per the American Academy of Pediatrics. The following vaccines are optional: RSV, COVID-19, Influenza, Meningococcal B, and HPV. Our practice has a large vulnerable newborn and medically fragile patient population. Our first goal is to protect not only our high-risk patients but ALL of our patients from vaccine preventable illnesses. Our second goal is to establish a trustworthy supportive relationship as we provide the best care for your children that is backed by reliable evidence-based medicine. This starts with providing parents with knowledge and clear communication. We understand that our policy might not be a good fit for your family and respect that decision. It is freedom of choice that allows parents to make the decisions that align with individual family needs. That same freedom of choice allows our providers to deliver the type of medical care they have dedicated their life-long career to achieve. The following link offers answers to many questions surrounding the confusion associated with the AAP vaccine schedule. As always, we are open to discuss any concerns you may have.

Wildflower Pediatrics continues to recommend Hepatitis B vaccine at birth for all newborns. We are disappointed in the ACIP’s (Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices) recommendation to no longer universally vaccinate newborn’s for hepatitis B. More importantly, we are saddened by the confusion and fear this may have created for our families. THERE IS NO NEW OR CONCERNING INFORMATION ABOUT THE HEPATITIS B VACCINE THAT IS PROMPTING THIS CHANGE, NOR HAS CHILDREN’S RISK OF CONTRACTING HEPATITIS B CHANGED.
Our patients deserve information grounded in science that will provide clear and consistent guidance rather than speculation. This is our plan and we are here to support and hold conversations to maintain a trustworthy relationship. The link below includes an article from the American Academy of Pediatrics and provides more details and helpful information to debunk multiple myths that have been circulating on the internet. Thank you for your patience and understanding and entrusting the medical care of your children with us.

We are aware that there is confusing information currently circulating in regards to vaccines, autism, and tylenol use. At this time, we are not altering our recommendations on the current vaccine schedule or the use of tylenol as recommended by your provider. Below is a link to the American Academy of Pediatrics response to the White House Autism Announcement. At the bottom of the article you will see a section, "For more information." This includes more detail regarding autism and vaccines (including the MMR vaccine), tylenol dosing, leucovorin use in autism, Hepatitis B vaccines for infants , and vaccine preservatives. We are here for you if you have any questions and desire to have a trustworthy supportive relationship as we provide the best care for your children that is backed by reliable evidence-based medicine. It is our goal to be prompt and clear in our communication as we move forward.
Sincerely,
Your Wildflower Pediatrics Staff

Today’s White House event on autism was filled with dangerous claims and misleading information that sends a confusing message to parents and expecting parents and does a disservice to autistic individuals.

Here's why pediatricians recommend vaccines with confidence. As vaccine misinformation comes from the highest levels, they will continue to be there for you to support important parenting decisions.

A Personalized Boutique Style Pediatric Practice

Nestled on a serene four acres of oak trees, our “medical home” lends itself to a more personalized boutique style care of delivery. From the moment you enter our office, you will feel a sense of friendliness with our staff and warmness in a unique medical environment. Dr. Dudley and Rachael Lichtenberger, PA, provide many medical services such as wellness checks, newborn care, sports physicals, same-day sick visits, laceration repair (sutures/staples), and behavioral consults. They also offer telemedicine visits, medical ear piercing, wart removal, “drive-through” flu vaccinations, dental risk assessments, and fluoride varnish applications. Dr. Dudley provides newborn care at St. David’s North Austin Medical Center, which allows her to establish a connection with your family as soon as your infant is born. Feel free to call our office to set up a prenatal visit to meet our providers and tour the office. The practice maintains medical records within Athena Health, allowing families to more easily access their child’s medical records and communicate with their provider. Our staff strives to deliver impeccable medical care even down to the smallest details.
