Austin Speech Labs

Austin Speech Labs Austin Speech Labs is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization in Austin, TX.

Austin Speech Labs was founded in 2008 when two speech therapists saw a gap between services covered by medical insurance and what stroke survivors truly need to return to their social and professional lives. Speech language pathologists, Shilpa Shamapant and Shelley Adair, founded Austin Speech Labs to provide the intensive and individualized speech therapy required for optimum recovery. We striv

e to provide a supportive environment for our clients to recover their communication skills after suffering stroke. It is important to our organization to bring these survivors into our Austin Speech Labs community and prevent isolation after such a traumatic event. We want to help them regain their speech so they can express themselves to their families and loved ones, which we consider a basic human need. Austin Speech Labs believes that giving them back their voice will help them rejoin the larger community. Recovery is built in the in-between moments. ๐Ÿ’š

After a stroke, finding ways to practice speech at home can feel overwhelming. Thatโ€™s why we created Phonology , an app that brings clinical speech therapy tools right to your fingertips.

Practice sounds, words, and numbers at your own pace. See your progress over 30, 60, 90 and 120 days. Use visual and video cues to guide each sound.

Designed by Austin Speech Labs, a nonprofit that has supported stroke survivors for over 16 years. Because your recovery matters every single day, not just during appointments.

This is what progress looks like. ๐Ÿ’š
When Kevin started therapy, ordering food meant navigating workarounds โ€” because talking in person felt out of reach. Then something shifted. His language got clearer. His sentences got stronger. And with that came something even bigger: confidence.
And confidence? That opened doors.
To access. To community. To connection. To independence.
This is why we do what we do. Stroke recovery, one word at a time. ๐ŸŽ™๏ธ
