Fifty heart transplants. Five years. Countless lives changed. ❤️
Dell Children’s Medical Center with Dell Medical School - UT Austin is celebrating a remarkable milestone: 50 pediatric heart transplants completed since launching our advanced heart program just five years ago.
What began as a bold vision in 2018 has transformed into one of the nation’s leading destinations for pediatric and congenital heart care. Along the way, our team has delivered several historic firsts for Texas and for children across the country, including the state’s first pediatric partial heart transplant and the world’s youngest Berlin Heart recipient at only 24 hours old.
This year, the Texas Center for Pediatric and Congenital Heart Disease was ranked Top 10 in the nation for Pediatric Cardiovascular Surgery by U.S. News & World Report, recognizing our outstanding outcomes and the extraordinary care provided by our surgeons, cardiologists, nurses, intensivists, anesthesiologists, APPs, perfusionists, and every member of our heart team.
But behind every milestone is a child—and a family—whose future is forever changed.
To our patients, families, clinical teams, and supporters: thank you for trusting us with the most precious hearts.
Here’s to the next chapter of innovation, compassion, and life-saving care right here in Central Texas. 💙
