For Anglia, pain kept her from making memories with her family and enjoying her favorite activities. After receiving her spinal cord stimulator (SCS) implant, that pain is gone and her life is full again. Now she’s back to riding motorcycles, hiking, and cherishing time with loved ones.

Welcome to Abbott's Chronic Pain community page, dedicated to sharing and celebrating everyday moments of living well while managing chronic pain. Our commitment is to help you live your best life possible through good health. One way we do that is by researching and developing better ways to give you relief from chronic pain.
We want you to have a place to share thoughts about taking better control of your chronic pain and living your best life. One way to take better control is with neurostimulation.
When you feel chronic pain, it is because your nerves are sending pain signals to your brain. Neurostimulation therapy works to reduce pain by altering the pain signals before they reach the brain. A generator, similar to a cardiac pacemaker, sends stimulation pulses to a thin wire called a lead. The lead delivers these pulses to nerves along the spinal column, which modifies the pain signals as they travel to different parts of the brain. The pulses change the way your body perceives the pain — providing potential relief.
One of the benefits of neurostimulation is that you can try the therapy using a temporary system before committing to an implanted system.
Consider taking control of your chronic pain and feeling more like yourself again.
Risk Information: The placement of a neurostimulation system requires surgery, which exposes patients to certain risks. Complications such as infection, swelling, bruising and possibly the loss of strength or use in an affected limb or muscle group (e.g. paralysis) are possible. Additional risks such as undesirable changes in stimulation may occur over time. Be sure to talk to your doctor about the possible risks associated with neurostimulation.
