💙 Share your story today!

On July 14, 1965, the Older Americans Act (OAA) was signed into law, establishing the first U.S. system of home and community-based services for older adults. For six decades, it has been a cornerstone of independence.

Today, the serves more than 14 million people annually—about 1 in 6 older Americans. That impact looks like:

🍽️ 250+ million meals delivered
🚗 14 million rides to appointments and stores
🤝 30 million hours of in-home care and caregiver support

Now, as Congress looks to reauthorize this landmark legislation, the National Alliance for Caregiving needs to put faces to these figures. We are collecting personal stories from caregivers who have used -funded programs.

If programs like Meals on Wheels, respite care, or transportation have helped you care for a loved one, please share your experience. Your story is the proof they need to secure funding for years to come.

✨ Connecting Professionals to Aging Services

The Aging Services: Your Partner Workshop was designed to provide community professionals with a clear overview of programs and services available through the Area Agency on Aging and the Aging & Disability Resource Center of the Capital Area, strengthening connections and collaboration across the region.

Held on Friday, January 30, in Austin, TX, the workshop welcomed 43 attendees from seven surrounding counties who connected with AAA/ADRC program managers and learned about resources supporting older adults, individuals with disabilities, and their caregivers across the CAPCOG 10-county region.

We extend our sincere thanks to Visiting Angels for sponsoring this event and supporting community collaboration.

🌟 Partnership Spotlight: Building Healthier Communities Together

We’re proud to partner with Texas A&M University College of Nursing - Round Rock campus to support healthy aging and bring A Matter of Balance Fall Prevention classes to older adults in Williamson County!

This spring, 24 students in the second-degree BSN program will be leading classes at six community locations including senior centers and independent senior apartment communities. Their coursework focuses on building healthy communities, wellness, and health promotion across the lifespan.

These emerging professionals are gaining hands-on experience helping older adults reduce fall risk and stay active and independent. We are grateful for this collaboration that blends education, service, and real-world impact for older adults.
