👏 Thank You to Our Guest Physical Therapist! 👏

A special thank you to Victor, physical therapist with Victory Hearing & Balance in Hutto, for joining our A Matter of Balance Fall Prevention class and demonstrating safe techniques for getting up from the floor. This hands-on demonstration gave participants practical, confidence-building strategies they can apply in real-life situations.

We also appreciate First Methodist Church for hosting the class and helping bring evidence-based fall prevention education to the community. Partnerships like these are essential in supporting older adults to stay safe, active, and independent. đź’™

đź”” New ACL Grants Strengthening Dementia Support in Indian Country đź””

The Administration for Community Living (ACL)—the federal oversight agency for Area Agencies on Aging nationwide—has announced new grant funding to strengthen dementia capabilities across Indian Country. These funds will support the development of culturally responsive dementia care programs and expand access to early detection, education, caregiver support, and long-term care services throughout tribal nations.

Currently, 72% of American Indian and Alaska Native adults are at risk for dementia, largely due to higher rates of diabetes, hypertension, obesity, smoking, and physical inactivity. As Native communities live longer, the incidence of Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias (ADRD) continues to rise.

This new investment represents an important step toward ensuring that older adults living with dementia—and the caregivers who support them—receive services that honor cultural traditions while integrating proven best practices.

🎉 A Matter of Balance Graduates in Hutto 🎉

We’re excited to celebrate the completion of another AMOB Fall Prevention Program held at The Fellowship Church Hutto.

This wonderful group of participants met weekly over the past eight weeks and worked hard to build confidence, improve balance, and learn practical strategies to reduce fall risk and stay independent.

Throughout the course, participants supported one another, practiced new exercises, and gained tools to make daily activities safer and more manageable. Their dedication and positive spirit made this class truly special.

Congratulations to all of our graduates—your hard work is inspiring, and we’re proud to support your wellness journey!

đź’™ November is National Family Caregiver Month

This month, we honor the incredible caregivers who provide support, love, and strength to older adults and individuals living with disabilities. Your dedication makes a world of difference.

Last week, our team — along with the Austin Texas Commission on Aging — proudly joined together as the City of Austin officially proclaimed November as Caregiver Month! We are deeply grateful to Council Member Marc Duchen for presenting this important proclamation and recognizing the vital role caregivers play in our community.

To every caregiver supporting someone living with Alzheimer’s or another dementia — we see you, we appreciate you, and we stand with you.
