You know me as a surgeon… but where was I in the 90s? 😏

Meet Ash, my first friend… (since age 3) to be your guide...

We were St. Louis kids. Then WashU kids. We practiced in his parents’ basement, had questionable taste in fashion, stayed up too late, and made wild memories with the best friends…the full 90s mixtape!

Before scrubs, I had distortion

🥁 my bro Asheesh on drums

Our all-original alt/hard rock band was called Loaded, and then we later became
Drowned…yes, we thought we were going somewhere! 😂

I had seriously loud amps, but Ash had louder drums! (hearing loss now - thanks bro)

Somehow we both turned out semi-respectable. 😂

If you’ve had surgery with me, you’ve met my incredible surgical coordinator, Tammie 🤍

Tammie has been at TOC since 2003 🤩and truly loves what she does - especially connecting with patients and getting to know each one personally.

She’s the first connection when you’re ready to schedule surgery, and is so kind and helpful. She is full of sincere joy for life, making everything go smoothly and with a smile.

A Houston native, Tammie comes from a big family of 14 siblings and now has a beautiful family of her own: two sons, one daughter, and eight grandchildren. ❤️ Outside of the office, she enjoys watching sports (especially her Lakers 🏀) and trying out great restaurants like and 😋

We’re so lucky to have her as an important part of our team!

What can you achieve with a curated comprehensive nonsurgical plan? A LOT 🤩

This 47 year old gem of guy traveled from Houston to see me. He was frustrated having spent tons of money and time on aesthetic treatments that did not work well. 🫤We talked through a lot together — his skincare, his goals, his anatomy. We put together a carefully designed plan:

✅curated skincare (prescriptions & products)
✅staged fillers (sculptra & restylane)
✅eye-focus botox pattern toxin — NO frontalis treatment

Doesn’t he look amazing 9 months in? Refreshed. Balanced proportions. Natural! 😊

Fillers get a really bad rap these days— but don’t cancel the product, cancel rampant poor injection techniques! Also, Botox doesn’t have to paralyze the forehead to reduce wrinkles— sequential precision treatment of the brow depressors downregulates the frontalis muscle tone, softening the wrinkles without sacrificing movement. 👌🏽 And finally, skincare matters! No one-size-fits-all approaches! A thoughtful curated treatment plan really can transform skin.

As a surgeon-educators, we have a sacred task— training oculofacial plastic surgery fellows. Today, I’m proud to highlight Dr. Alison Watson, who completed our fellowship in 2019, and has risen to a leader in our field! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

A Philadelphia native (and proud Eagles fan 🦅), Dr. Watson is a faculty member at the Wills Eye Hospital and a partner at Oculoplastic Surgeons of Philadelphia. Outside of medicine, she enjoys life in Philly with her incredible husband Tim and their two lovely children. 💛

I’m so proud of Alison, and feel privileged to have helped in her training. Now she is actively training her own residents and fellows — and so the benevolent teaching cycle of medicine continues 🫶🏽

Vertical wrinkles don’t occur naturally on the forehead or cheek. Then what caused this!? 🤔

Side sleeping! Sleeping on the same side every night compresses your face against the pillow, crumpling and folding the skin into a deep permanent line. 😳

Back sleeping is much better for protecting your face. But if you’re a committed side sleeper (and many people are!), I recommend switching to a silk or satin pillowcase - they grip less on the skin. The difference can be real. 🌙🛏️ I recently shared more commentary in an article featured in

Swipe to see how this truly lovely patient of ours had her sleep lines treated during a full face rejuvenation. She had upper and lower blepharoplasty and brow lift with my partner , and a deep plane lower facelift, deep necklift, and lip lift with me. We specifically redirected vectors across her face to reduce the sleep lines and she achieved a beautiful result! She’s definitely using a satin pillowcase now👌🏽😃

This naturally pretty 32-year-old with delicate features wanted more jawline definition and brighter, more open eyes. We decided on a global proportion adjustment and focused oculoplastic magic. 👌🏽

Meet Kendall Goodyear, MD ✨(.md) our stellar senior fellow – she’s on my rotation right now. We are always having a blast in the OR! (of course) In just a few months, she will be GRADUATING 🎓 (gulp) and will be returning to her hometown, Phoenix.

I want you all to get to know Dr. Goodyear better… so this post is devoted entirely to Kendall, whose positive energy and determination never cease to amaze me. She is already an incredibly accomplished surgeon, yet humble and fun-loving. Our whole TOC family loves her! (see pics)

Dr. Goodyear graduated from Cornell, and then earned her MD from the University of Pennsylvania. She completed her ophthalmology residency at the Stein Eye Institute at UCLA (same residency as me!!) and will soon be wrapping up her 2 year ASOPRS/AACS fellowship with us . Outside the clinic, Kendall enjoys spending time with her amazing husband Tim and their loveable rescue dog, Ezzy 🐾, exploring Austin’s trails and food scene, and traveling: most recently to Japan and Africa, with Italy next on her wish list ✈️🌍

We’re thrilled to have you train with us, Kendall, and can’t wait to see what you accomplish next!

Fat repositioning **with recycling** enhances blepharoplasty ✨

This patient had an upper and lower blepharoplasty + a brow lift, using one of my favorite techniques: fat repositioning & fat recycling ♻️

✨ Lower eyelid fat was repositioned downwards to fill the orbital retaining ligament hollow and enhance cheek volume
✨ Upper eyelid fat was debulked, minced, and re-injected into the cheeks for improved symmetry and contour

I recently presented my technique at the Barcelona Oculoplastics meeting… I’m really excited about the power of this procedure!
