We’re honored to announce Mark Oerther as the 2026 Lone Star Leadership Award recipient.
With over 21 years of experience across mental health, substance abuse, and recovery, Mark has served in admissions, business development, direct care, supervision, and therapeutic program management—and helped start and operate five highly regarded treatment programs across the country.
But the leadership we’re honoring runs deeper.
Mark’s greatest accomplishment is getting sober. After addiction once controlled his life, he broke the cycle at the age of 21 with the support of family and others in recovery. Today, his mission is simple and powerful: to make the gift of recovery more accessible and to remind young adults and their families that there is hope—and a new life ahead.
As Mark says, quoting his favorite line from the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous:
“It works, it really does!”
