Circa 2014, I was that girl at the local health food store ordering a green smoothie (extra acai, add spirulina please). I’d sip on my questionable-tasting drink, convinced I was glowing from the inside out. The epitome of health, right?

Meanwhile, I never stopped to question why I was basically painting my shower walls with my hair, why I was inflamed no matter how ā€œcleanā€ my diet was, why I only had a BM maybe 3x a week, or why I was exhausted 24/7. I read spirulina was a superfood, so shouldn’t I have been feeling super?

Part of me wishes I could go back in time and shove some steak down my throat… but honestly, if I did, I probably wouldn’t be writing this right now. It’s funny to think I was once a die-hard pescatarian with vegan beliefs, and now my diet is built around nutrient-dense animal foods.

The glow I was chasing back then? I finally see it now. No spirulina required.

When we return to tradition and an ancestral way of eating/living (as best we can), we start to see clearly what our bodies actually need to fuel and heal.

Bloated after every meal, exhausted no matter how much I slept, and periods that left me curled up with a heating pad.

Most of us scan the nutrition facts but skip the ingredient list entirely. But it’s not just what we eat, it’s what’s in what we eat.

Many of the additives in our food supply have barely been studied for long-term safety. Why? Because research is expensive and food companies are the ones funding the studies.

This results in biased data, fast-track approvals, and labels full of ingredients we can’t pronounce.

You’ve probably seen the term GRAS on labels ā€œGenerally Recognized as Safeā€ but companies often self-determine that status using their own hired scientists. The FDA mostly just signs off. 😬

Meanwhile, rates of gut issues like IBD are skyrocketing! 1.6 million Americans and 80,000 children in the U.S. are now affected, and instead of turning to food, we’re offered more meds.

What I learned at the Biohacking conference:

- Mitochondrial health is everything. They don’t just make energy, they regulate aging, detox, mood, and so much more. When they’re supported, you’re supported.

Here’s where I’ve been…

Creating content hasn’t felt easy lately... and I want to be honest about that.

I love working 1:1 with women but the social media part of my job has put me in a creative slump.

Not because I don’t care. Not because I’ve stopped believing in my work. But because sometimes… showing up just feels hard.

When you’re in a season where ideas feel flat, client flow slows down, and motivation disappears, it’s easy to feel like you’re failing.

But I’m learning to trust these quieter seasons too.
Maybe they’re not signs that’s something’s wrong.. maybe they’re invitations to go deeper and to get realigned.

To listen before pushing forward.

Let’s stop with the fear-mongering on anti-nutrients. Cooking your legumes and veggies properly reduces anti nutrients like lectins and phytates by over 50%! (And by properly cooking I mean how your great grandparents would do it! Soak your oats and beans overnight 🫘)
