Inflammation is part of the body’s natural defense system and can be a good thing in balance.

However, when your immune system shifts out of balance, inflammation can run rampant—causing a chronic, smoldering fire inside your body that contributes to disease, weight gain, and more.

In additon to taking these supplements to help reduce inflammation, what we eat is one of the biggest levers we have when it comes to driving or reducing inflammation.

Industrial food drives inflammation, oxidative stress, hormone and neurotransmitter imbalances, overloads your detoxification system, depletes your energy, damages your microbiome, and changes your gene expression to turn on disease-causing genes.

Real, whole, nutrient and phytonutrient-rich food does the opposite. It turns off inflammation, increases antioxidant systems, balances hormones and brain chemistry, boosts detoxification, increases energy, optimizes your microbiome, and turns on disease-preventing, health-promoting genes.

People who eat or drink more foods with antioxidant flavonols, which are found in several fruits and vegetables as well as tea and wine, may have a slower rate of memory decline, according to a study published in the November 22, 2022, online issue of Neurology.

Something as simple as eating more fruits and vegetables and drinking more tea is an easy way for people to take an active role in maintaining their brain health.💪😉

What are flavonols?

Flavonols are a major class of the family of flavonoids, molecules that have interesting biological activity such as antioxidant, antimicrobial, hepatoprotective, anti-inflammatory, and vasodilatation effects, and they have been considered as potential anticancer agents.

Tea and wine are the primary dietary sources of flavonoids in eastern and western societies, respectively. Besides, leafy vegetables, onions, apples, berries, cherries, soybeans, and citrus fruits are considered an important source of dietary flavonoids.

Sharing a great and fantastic webinar coming up soon!

This webinar will address the recent articles on the serotonin hypothesis as well as other genomic components that contribute to depression and how to use genomics to develop a precision approach for treatment. It will touch on genomic root causes of depression including genes that contribute to cortisol, adrenaline, nutrient carriers, and methylation as well as how they can be addressed to improve outcomes.

This is truly amazing🙌 and we have seen great results with our own patients at Resilient Health. Dr Hausman-Cohen, our medical director contributed to this paper also and teaching other physician about the use of medical genomics for optimizing brain health.👩🏻‍⚕️💜

Background: Effective therapeutics for Alzheimer’s disease are needed. However, previous clinical trials have pre-determined a single treatment modality, such as a drug candidate or therapeutic procedure, which may be unrelated to the primary drivers

Recent interview I did for Voyage Austin. Sharing a little about me and my story😊💜.

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gabriela Pichardo. Gabriela, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin? I had a passion for medicine instilled in me at a very young age, with both my parents been doctors and seeing how successful they were...

For the past 8 months (or so!) I have been practicing at Resilient Health, here in Austin. Can't believe this much time already has passed! 😁

Resilient Health, is a type of practice. I enjoy combining primary care with integrative and functional medicine. One of the things we offer is the use of medical genomics to offer a more personalized approach to your health either been a patient of ours or just doing it as a because you want to take charge of your health and getting to the of something that may have been afflicting you for many years.

✔So what is personalized genomic medicine?

Is a way to improve your health using your family history, medical history, genetic information and lifestyle.

The four P’s of personalized genomic medicine are:

🩺Personalized: risks are uniquely yours

🩺Predictive: predicts the chances of developing certain disorders

🩺Preventive: based on your results, changing specific lifestyle behaviors, offering healthy solutions to decrease disease risk.

🩺Participatory: requires your involvement.

And remember: "Your genetics load the gun but your lifestyle pulls the trigger."

When you are down or depressed,😕😭 exercise  may seem like the last thing you want to do but physical activity can have a profound effect on mental health.

✔Studies show that regular moderate Aerobic exercise alleviates depression as effectively as medication and may boost mood in healthy people.

✔It may work by triggering release of feel good chemicals call 𝕖𝕟𝕕𝕠𝕣phins; it also appears to mitigate inflammation.

✔In addition clinical trials show a link between regular physical activity and healthy cognitive function as well as lower risk for Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia.

So go ahead, find a form of exercise either 🚶‍♀️, 🏃‍♂️, 🏊‍♀️ or 🚴‍♀️ that you enjoy and do it at least 30 minutes a day, as many days of the week you can. Healthy mind, healthy body👩🏻‍⚕️😉👍.

★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★

Mente Sana, cuerpo sano👩🏻‍⚕️😉👍.
