📍Dialysis ASC Expands Across 19 States — And Uncovers 10 Years of Underpayments

A Miami-based Ambulatory Surgical Center specializing in dialysis care partnered with PayrHealth to support multi-state growth and strengthen its payor position.
The challenge:

The organization lacked internal resources to manage legal entity updates, secure new priority contracts, and credential new providers. During the process, our team uncovered that one payor had been underpaying the ASC for nearly a decade.

📊 The results:
• 9 new payor contracts executed
• Contracts renegotiated across 19 states
• Credentialing completed with 11 payors
• Access to 7.7 million additional potential patients

By combining payor contracting, analytics, and credentialing strategy, the ASC not only corrected historical underpayments — but positioned itself for scalable, long-term growth.

Revenue performance isn’t accidental. It’s engineered.

If you’re evaluating outdated contracts or expanding into new markets, we’d welcome the opportunity to connect.

“Revenue cycle success isn’t about pushing more claims through the system — it’s about building processes that prevent breakdowns before they happen.”

With more than a decade of experience in revenue cycle operations, Kayla Schneider believes sustainable financial performance starts with structure, accountability, and proactive oversight at every stage of the revenue cycle.

At PayrHealth, that philosophy translates into a model built on redundancy, transparency, and consistency — where every claim is reviewed by experienced professionals, denial trends are actively managed, and data is leveraged to uncover opportunities for improvement.

Strong RCM means:

• Strategic medical coding and documentation oversight
• Active AR and denial management
• Data-driven KPI monitoring
• Patient-forward billing strategies
• Technology that enhances transparency and efficiency

Healthcare organizations don’t just need billing support — they need a revenue cycle partner focused on long-term growth.

“In 2026, set it and forget it payor contracting just doesn’t work anymore.”

If your contracts are auto-renewing without review, you could be leaving real revenue on the table. Payors are delaying, denying, and resisting increases—and without consistent pressure and escalation, rates stay flat.

PayrHealth actively negotiates, escalates, and advocates so your contracts don’t just renew—they improve. Let’s turn contracting fatigue into measurable results.

💡 Should you outsource medical billing services?

Many practices rely on in-house billing teams — but with constantly changing regulations, coding updates, and payor requirements, it’s becoming harder for small teams to keep up without added strain.

Outsourcing medical billing can help practices:

• Improve revenue and cash flow
• Reduce billing errors and denied claims
• Lower operational costs
• Stay ahead of compliance changes
• Free up internal teams to focus on patient care

The right partner doesn’t just handle claims — they bring expertise, transparency, and real-time insights into your revenue cycle.

We break down what medical billing outsourcing really means, the benefits to consider, and how to determine if it’s the right move for your practice in our latest blog.

🚀 Growing Your Practice? It Starts with Credentialing.

Opening a new location. Adding a provider. Breaking away from a group. Updating ownership.

Each of these milestones requires enrollment and credentialing — and delays can mean delayed revenue.

PayrHealth provides dedicated healthcare credentialing services, including:

• Commercial insurance enrollment
• Medicare & Medicaid enrollment and revalidations
• CAQH maintenance and portal management
• OIG monitoring

Credentialing isn’t just paperwork — it’s the gateway to reimbursement. We manage complexity so you can focus on what matters most: caring for your patients.

✅25% rate increases from top payors compared to initial offers
✅4 major contracts executed (UnitedHealthcare, Blue Shield of CA, Cigna, and Oscar Health)
✅Lab and radiology codes contracted at 100% of Medicare
✅Expanded access to care for nearly 2 million lives across Los Angeles County

With strategic contracting and consulting support, this client achieved above-average urgent care rates and positioned their organization for sustainable growth.

💡 Did you know PayrHealth offers Complete Payor Management?

Payor relationships don’t end once a contract is signed — and neither do we. Complete Payor Management (CPM) integrates payor contracting, credentialing, and revenue cycle management into one coordinated strategy.

From negotiating stronger rates to ensuring providers are enrolled and billing-ready, to optimizing claims performance and reducing denials, we align every stage of the revenue cycle — from contract to claim to cash.

Whether you see 50 or 50,000 patients, CPM gives you the structure, strategy, and oversight larger systems rely on to increase reimbursements and protect long-term revenue.

💻 Employee Spotlight: Hunter Ulbrich

Meet Hunter Ulbrich, an IT Specialist at PayrHealth who has been working at the intersection of IT and healthcare for about five years. Hunter’s career in IT started early with a summer job in his high school’s IT department and continued into an internship at PayrHealth as a Helpdesk Engineer. After graduating, he joined PayrHealth full time and has continued to grow his role and expertise ever since.

Hunter is naturally drawn to task- and process-oriented work, which is what sparked his passion for IT. What he enjoys most day-to-day is solving problems—whether that’s tackling backend system issues or helping a teammate resolve a software or application challenge. Fixing something new or complex gives him a sense of accomplishment and reinforces the value of being part of a team that keeps everything running smoothly so others can do their jobs without interruption.

Although PayrHealth is Hunter’s first full-time role post-graduation, he’s experienced a wide range of collaboration styles, from working in-office to transitioning into a fully remote environment. He values how much teams rely on one another in IT—because when systems or permissions aren’t working, progress can come to a halt. Collaborating with colleagues across states and even countries has been a rewarding part of his experience and highlights the importance of teamwork across the organization.

🎮 Fun facts about Hunter:

• He likely has the largest Nintendo Famicom collection in Southeast Kansas
• He enjoys developing games in the Unity Engine and is learning GB Studio
• Favorite show: Ghost in the Shell — a fan of 90s retro anime art and aesthetics

We’re grateful to have Hunter on the PayrHealth IT team, keeping systems—and teams—running smoothly behind the scenes. 👏
