Self-care is not something to buy. It is not an exorbitant spa day, it is not “treating” yourself, it is not only external. So much messaging on social media says, “if you really loved yourself, you would know you are ‘worth this purchase (that is an affiliate link lol).’”

But our bodies know that is not the truth.
 
Self-care is about how we hold ourselves. Am I congruent? Can I hold myself with compassion while I am deeply uncomfortable? Can I love my body deeply when I’m nauseous and achy? Can I trust my body when I see it stretch and expand in new ways? Can I give myself grace when my house, my work, my itinerary is not perfectly ordered? Can I simply give myself rest/quiet/blank space without “deserving it?”

It’s vital because it’s alive with guidance and wisdom. Calling you to feel who you really are.

There’s endless mis i n f o r m a t I o n about the female form floating around and for decades we’ve chased the health that is sold to men.

You know…workout, be strong, and do as much as possible. Strive and achieve. Fix it with a magic pill. These are short term solutions that aren’t sustainable especially if you need to find hormone balance.

I’m exploring this topic in many ways now. One is on the podcast series coming in two days. Comment or DM podcast to get the registration info.

It’s not the typical conversation that you see in the feeds, we need to go deeper.

I was naïve but capable. 🦄

I knew in my soul and body that birth was normal. I mean, that baby got there some magical way…surely I could get it out. 🐋

But I was already skeptical of the medical model. I had already started herb school. I was pretty in tune with my body.

And I was in a rebellious phase 🤷🏼‍♀️

I became a midwife after having a free birth…why?

Because I didn’t have support or knowledge about postpartum. 👩🏼‍🍼 I didn’t know anyone having babies yet. I wasn’t taught anything about birth or pregnancy.

Also I could feel for the first year postpartum that I didn’t take as deep care of my body in the first pregnancy as was ideal.

Because I didn’t know what was normal or what to expect I wanted to step into a roll of guidance education and be apart of this transformation for other families.

I was transformed. My daughter is my guiding light ✨ she made me the woman I am today.
