Using a translational research method, studies at the Anxiety and Health Behaviors Lab aim to (1) identify targets for intervention; (2) develop and pilot test novel therapeutic strategies; and (3) investigate the effectiveness of promising behavioral and integrative treatments in clinical trials. We study a range of anxiety disorders including specific phobia, panic disorder (with agoraphobia), obsessive-compulsive disorder, social anxiety disorder, and posttraumatic stress disorder. Anxiety processes play a role in the maintenance of a number of health compromising behaviors. We study a range of these behaviors including smoking, overeating and physical inactivity.

Participants will: (1) be at least 18-years-old and up to 70-years-old; and (2) meet criteria for the following: social anxiety disorder, panic disorder (with or without agoraphobia), generalized anxiety disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, or obsessive-compulsive disorder. Participation involves: (a) 2 in-person pre-treatment assessment visits; (b) 1 online pre-treatment assessment visit; (c) 12-weekly therapy sessions with a Ph.D.-level therapist; (d) 12 brief weekly online assessments to track your progress; and (e) 2 online follow-up assessments occurring 1-week and 3-months after treatment.
