Texas may have temporarily paused the smokable h**p ban, but the state is still pushing forward with extreme increases to h**p retail and manufacturing license fees. These fee hikes jumping from $155 to $5,000 per retail location, are already threatening small businesses across the state.
Even though the smokable ban is on hold for now, the financial burden hasn’t stopped. Courts have paused enforcement of the smokable restrictions, but they did not pause the licensing fee increases, meaning businesses are still facing the cost spike while waiting for the next hearing.
At Thrive Vitality, we’re a THC‑free wellness company built on transparency, safety, and community support. We don’t sell intoxicating products. We don’t contribute to the issues the state claims to be targeting. Yet we’re still being swept up in regulations and fees designed for an entirely different segment of the industry.
For small, community‑rooted brands like ours, these changes aren’t just numbers on paper, they directly affect our ability to operate, serve our customers, and keep wellness accessible.
We stand with the Texas h**p community, retailers, manufacturers, farmers, and consumers, who are being impacted by rules that don’t reflect the reality of our work or our values. We’ll continue to show up, stay compliant, and support the people who support us.
