Basic Instructions you need to follow after any surgery:

🟢 Take pain-relieving and other medications as advised.
🟢 Do not drink alcohol, drive a vehicle, operate any machinery, or sign a legal document for the first 24 hours.
🟢 Use ice packs to control swelling.
🟢 Follow the specific restriction of activity, as advised.
🟢 Keep the dressing clean and dry to promote wound healing.
🟢 Try to begin physical therapy a day or two after the surgery.
🟢 Eat a healthy diet and drink plenty of non-alcoholic and non-caffeinated drinks.
🟢 Schedule your follow-up appointment with your doctor as advised.

🔴 Increased drainage from the incision
🔴 Increased redness around the operated area
🔴 Increased swelling that does not decrease with ice and elevation
🔴 Foul odor
🔴 Fever greater than 101°F
🔴 Coldness, numbness, or blanched white or bluish color of the fingers or toes
🔴 Sudden calf pain or shortness of breath
🔴 Chest pain

Meet Dr. Varqa Rouhipour, MD

Meet Dr. Varqa Rouhipour, a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon specializing in sports and trauma-related injuries.

Dr. Rouhipour completed his training at top institutions including USC and Carolinas Medical Center, and has served as team physician for Division 1 athletics and pro teams like the San Jose Sabercats. He’s also a dedicated educator, training future surgeons as clinical faculty and AO instructor.

Fluent in Spanish & Persian, Dr. Rouhipour is passionate about helping patients return to the activities they love. Outside the OR, you’ll find him outdoors—snowboarding, biking, hiking, or playing soccer with family.

When Akins High School quarterback Christopher went down with a serious leg injury during one of the season’s biggest games, what began as a painful night quickly turned into a story of coordinated, compassionate healing.

After an efficient ER visit and an expedited MRI, Christopher was connected with Dr. Bennett and the BoneDrs team, specialists in sports medicine and knee injuries. Dr. Bennett provided clear answers, a positive prognosis, and a surgical plan to get Christopher back in action for his senior baseball season. ⚾️

Meet Brian Petronaci, PA-C!

He is originally from New Jersey and has recently relocated to Austin, Texas. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from Montclair State University and then further went on to receive his Master of Physician Assistant Studies from Touro College in New York. He is board-certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants [NCCPA] and the Texas Medical Board.

He has been practicing as a physician assistant in orthopedic surgery since 2015. His first four years as a PA were spent in general orthopedics, mostly specializing in total joints and trauma. His following four years as a PA he spent specializing in orthopedic sports medicine. Brian enjoys helping and educating patients of all ages. In his free time you will find him spending time with his family, hiking, exercising, and traveling the world.
