This is a rare opportunity to explore your "air pressure system," integrating the "whole container" available for vocalization, including your pelvic floor.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This system is essential for posture, vitality, self-regulation, and, of course, expression.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Come to join us at Mystic Oaks, Wimberly.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The place is beautiful, and we will do sensitive and potent work from 10 am to 4 pm, divided into Awareness through Movement lessons, time to process the somatic work through journaling and discussions, and time to explore the space, eat and relax, creating the conditions for learning and assimilation.

This workshop will explore the connections between the physical body and vocal and creative expression.

You’ll learn how to let go of unnecessary bracing and tension in the body to create greater personal empowerment and expression.

The day will include a series of gentle, mindful movement exercises, guided attention, vocal explorations, and plenty of time for reflection, journaling, and discussion. We will also have a lunch break where you could walk around the property or find a place to sit in silence and practice sensing/perceiving your body.

Participants will leave with an enhanced sense of physical grounding, coordination, and integration that embodies confidence, empowerment, freedom, flexibility, and creativity.

Physical therapy performed in the immediate postoperative period has great benefits, helping the patient to return to their (ADLs) activities of daily living faster, manage pain and avoid complications.

Our signature protocol follows the three phases of the postoperative: inflammatory, proliferative, and remodeling, which can bring future complications according to their characteristics.

There is also a pre-operatory period dedicated to preventing ecchymosis, edema, and fibrosis in the postoperative period.

Physical therapy treatment in the pre and postoperative period favors a positive result in the post-surgical, minimizing pain, scarring adherence, lymphedema, postural changes, loss of arm range of motion, and inflammatory processes (tendinitis, capsulitis, bursitis) and infectious processes (cellulitis and erysipelas).

New mothers commonly experience various emotions, including joy, anxiety, and exhaustion. However, some women may experience more significant mental health challenges, such as postpartum depression (PPD), postpartum anxiety, or postpartum psychosis.

PPD is a common condition that affects around 1 in 7 women who give birth. It is characterized by persistent sadness, hopelessness, worthlessness, fatigue, changes in appetite and sleep, and difficulty bonding with the baby.

Postpartum anxiety is another common condition that can include excessive worrying, restlessness, and panic attacks.

Postpartum psychosis is a rare but severe condition that can occur within the first few weeks after giving birth. Hallucinations, delusions, and extreme mood swings characterize it. Women who experience postpartum psychosis require immediate medical attention.

New mothers must know the signs and symptoms of postpartum mental health challenges and seek help if needed.

Pelvic floor physical therapists are in a unique position to scan and refer the postpartum patient to proper care due to the frequency of the treatment, sometimes seeing the patient twice or 3x a week.

When designing a treatment plan to help new moms recover from giving birth, it is essential to include interventions to balance the nervous system, aiming for more general results like decreased fatigue and excitation of the nervous system to support digestion, lactation, bonding (social engagement), and rest.

Movement can be a powerful tool to enhance creativity.

People often say: “ I’m not a creative person.” However, there are ways to enhance creative abilities over time.

By embracing curiosity, engaging in creative activities, collaborating with others, and practicing mindfulness and other techniques, you can tap into your creative potential and generate new ideas and solutions.

Mindful movement improves self-organization and raises awareness. Consequently, individuals may also become more connected to their internal experiences and emotions, which can fuel creativity and inspiration.

Besides that, experimentation in movement encourages people to explore patterns and approach movement problems with a sense of curiosity and openness, which can translate to other creative domains.

Moving spontaneously and with mindfulness is a great way to gain experience, feel comfortable, and increase the confidence to bring innovation to life!

A new set of Awareness Through Movement classes starts in June.

Stay tuned!

Hypermobility syndrome (HMS) is characterized by the ability to move joints beyond the normal range of motion. It is also known as joint hypermobility syndrome (JHS).

Considered a hereditary condition, it can affect any joint in the body, but it is most commonly seen in the fingers, wrists, elbows, knees, and ankles.

Common symptoms are joint pain, muscle pain, weakness, fatigue, and joint instability.

The exact cause of HMS is unknown, but it is believed to be related to a defect in the collagen that makes up the body's connective tissues, leading to the laxity of joints and ligaments.

HMS is also associated with an increased risk of developing other conditions, such as osteoarthritis, temporomandibular joint disorder (TMJ), and gastrointestinal disorders.

Treatment for HMS typically involves physical therapy to help improve stability and posture and prevent injury.

Careful examination often shows excessive tension in some muscles, especially antigravity ones, to create stability.

An often-forgotten muscular group that belongs to this category is the pelvic floor muscles. They seemed custom-made to fight gravity.

And here, we find a paradox when treating these patients: the excessive tension is problematic, but letting go of it could bring even more joint instability.

Knowing how to provide another source of stability is essential, so bracing won't be necessary.

If you have been struggling with pelvic floor symptoms, it is essential to think holistically once its functions go way beyond the reproduction, digestive and urinary systems.

Pets can have a positive impact on our biological regulation. Here are a few examples:

- Reduced Stress: Studies have shown that interacting with pets, such as petting a dog or cat, can lower cortisol levels, a hormone associated with stress, and increase the levels of oxytocin, a hormone associated with happiness and bonding.

- Improved Cardiovascular Health: Owning a pet can improve cardiovascular health. Studies have found that pet owners have lower blood pressure and a reduced risk of heart disease.

- Increased Physical Activity: Pets can encourage their owners to be more physically active. Dogs, in particular, require regular walks and exercise, which can motivate owners to be more active and help them maintain a healthy weight.

- Enhanced Mental Health: Pets can positively impact mental health by providing companionship and reducing feelings of loneliness and depression. Additionally, pets have been shown to improve social skills and reduce symptoms of anxiety and PTSD.

Rosie became part of our family in December 2020. Remember those days?

Let's celebrate the joy, wellness, and companionship that pets bring into our lives and promote awareness of pet adoption and animal welfare.
