There are days that feel like tournaments…
and then there are days that feel like something bigger.

This past weekend at our 3rd Annual ACE Tournament, you could feel it from the very beginning. Attitude, Concentration, Effort woven into every moment. In performance and in the way everyone showed up for each other. 💛💜

The Moo Do spirit was alive and indomitable. I watched young students encourage one another, stand tall under pressure, and grow right before our eyes. That kind of environment is built through intention, and it’s blossoming! 💐🙏🏼

It’s been a true honor to carry forward the legacy that Master Ben Johnson began with the first ACE Tournament in 2024. What he planted is continuing to grow, and this weekend, it showed. We continue to honor the life of Kyo Sa Nim Jesse Fahlsing (who passed tragically to Fentanyl), we added an “intermission” of Master Demos by and a beautiful performance by .

So many schools came together with respect, kindness, and unity despite differences. That’s the real win.

A day of learning. A day of leading. A day of loving one another.

2026, 18th Annual Lonestar Invitational was such a success! In more ways than one…

I watched students bow with sincerity and keep their discipline. I saw competitors cheer for each other like teammates. I saw coaches from different schools exchanging wisdoms and kindness. In a world that feels heavy lately… that kind of energy hits different. Reminds me of the quote:

“A student once told their Master, ‘I feel discouraged.’The Master replied, ‘Then go encourage someone else.’”

There were friendships formed from people all over the country and state. We were especially honored to see so many Tang Soo Do schools—across styles—come together. No walls that I perceived, just shared roots and mutual respect.

And personally… this one felt even more special.

In addition to our schools 1 year anniversary recently, we brought home our first Grand Champion trophy at Golden Hands— earned by Mr. Ayaan Someyanda (his first was won nearly 3 years ago at Master Riley’s tournament)

His journey has been nothing short of incredible. Grit. Humility in winning and losing. Relentless work. The kind of growth to forge a stronger character. He earned every second of that moment. His emotions came out strong when his name was called as he has been persistent in earning this award! Definitely my favorite moment as a teacher.

I know Master Riley would be proud!

Winning is proof that the work you’re putting in…is paying off. You just have to stick to the path! Tang Soo!!

We have several folks signed up for this and would love to see more! Bring your partner, S.O. or any trusted friend and learn to develop a fun practice to develop confidence, sensitivity and awareness. We’ll keep it basic and simple!

We hope everyone is having a Merry Christmas and Happiest Holiday!

Our last 2 classes of the year….
The Night of 💯 Forms! (We made it as a class to 70…I stayed behind, left the timer on and finished the last 30 🥵)
AND
The Night of 1,000 Kicks! 🦵
What a fun, enduring evening of tradition to send us into the holiday break!

Most impressive moments:
- seeing the 3rd Gups complete Bassai 10+ times and watching the synchronization between them
- seeing our orange belt student, Ave, finish her 100 forms throughout the entire camp day! Such dedication at an early stage!
- seeing the class finish the last 100 kicks with such intense energy!

We hope everyone finishes this year off with peaceful reflection, loving company and strong minds to start the new year! We’ll see you back January 3rd!

Our 2nd Black Belt Promotion of 2025!!
This one marks a special moment in our school, we promoted our first Kyo Sa Nim, Murphy Sasser.
He is currently a full-time college student at Berklee College of music in Boston, Massachusetts. He has a strong passion for music, martial arts and developing as a teacher!
(Sound familiar? lol).

Mr. Sparsh Palankar promoted 3rd Dan and is now pursuing the track to Kyo Sa. He is a Very gifted and technically strong martial artist. He has been on both Aim & Focus karate and Golden Hands forms team…his discipline is very impressive for a young man!

Both of these men are growing out of their teenage years, into young adulthood. Their passion for developing themselves mentally, physically and spiritually, as well as their teaching ability will take them very far in life no doubt. Tang Soo!!!!

P.S. A very special guest attended, my teacher Master Johnson, who continued to bring lessons and stories to carry all of us into strength & discipline! I’m so grateful! Myself…back to the basics. Ko Mup Sam Ni Da!!

It was a day of celebrating such strong leadership in our school. Mr. Murphy Sasser is now 2nd Dan, Kyo Sa Nim Sasser (a Golden Hands first!!) And Mr. Sparsh Palankar is now 3rd Dan - and on the track to testing for Kyo Sa in 2026!

We are grateful to have Sa Bom Nim Ben Johnson in our lives, still inspiring honor, awareness, strength through his many stories.
