Our 2nd Black Belt Promotion of 2025!!
This one marks a special moment in our school, we promoted our first Kyo Sa Nim, Murphy Sasser.
He is currently a full-time college student at Berklee College of music in Boston, Massachusetts. He has a strong passion for music, martial arts and developing as a teacher!
(Sound familiar? lol).

Mr. Sparsh Palankar promoted 3rd Dan and is now pursuing the track to Kyo Sa. He is a Very gifted and technically strong martial artist. He has been on both Aim & Focus karate and Golden Hands forms team…his discipline is very impressive for a young man!

Both of these men are growing out of their teenage years, into young adulthood. Their passion for developing themselves mentally, physically and spiritually, as well as their teaching ability will take them very far in life no doubt. Tang Soo!!!!

P.S. A very special guest attended, my teacher Master Johnson, who continued to bring lessons and stories to carry all of us into strength & discipline! I’m so grateful! Myself…back to the basics. Ko Mup Sam Ni Da!!

It was a day of celebrating such strong leadership in our school. Mr. Murphy Sasser is now 2nd Dan, Kyo Sa Nim Sasser (a Golden Hands first!!) And Mr. Sparsh Palankar is now 3rd Dan - and on the track to testing for Kyo Sa in 2026!

We are grateful to have Sa Bom Nim Ben Johnson in our lives, still inspiring honor, awareness, strength through his many stories.

📸 Discipline & Joy in One 💥

We had the amazing Stance Sanchez of in the school capturing our students’ incredible skills in action! From low stances to perfect side kicks, the energy and precision in the room were next level and contagious!

There’s something about pressure and performance that pushes us to sharpen every detail — better balance, stronger form, cleaner technique. These moments remind us that every photo is more than a pose… it’s a measurement and result of discipline, focus, and confidence built over time.

So grateful to have these memories frozen in time at Golden Hands Martial Arts — and even more grateful for the opportunity to use them as motivation to train with perfection in mind. 🥋✨

🌿🦕✨ From ancient portals to rhythm patterns, one of our favorite weeks at Golden Hands Summer Camp featured a trip to the Zilker Botanical Gardens and a focused rhythm section!

In between our adventures, we practiced the power of stillness—tapping into meditation as a tool for grounding, focus, and clarity. Back at base camp, we shifted from stillness to sound, diving into rhythm as a universal language. Whether clapping, drumming, or stepping in time, you could see the gears turning in our campers’ minds as new patterns took hold and new connections sparked to life.

Rhythm sharpens the senses.
Meditation strengthens the spirit.
Adventure fuels the soul.

This weekend: our first-ever Black Belt Promotion 🎉 with special guest Master Ben Johnson. Proud doesn’t even cover it.

Here are a few highlights from our special guest this past week — Mr. Destin Wernicke, a jazz percussionist, composer, music director, and pipe organist for a local Austin church, joined us for an unforgettable rhythm session!

He brought some wild instruments: frame drum, cajón, handpan, pandeiro, and shakers — and the kids loved hearing the different textures and sounds each one created. We even turned it into a little samba jam band 🔥

Mr. Destin, Mr. Sasser, and Sa Bom Nim Holt closed it out with a jazz trio on Freddie Hubbard’s Red Clay 🎶 …then the whole crew finished strong with our song of the week: Ain’t No Mountain High Enough.

Mr. Destin and SBN Holt go way back to their days at the University of North Texas — two jazz musicians still making waves, now passing the torch to the next generation.

It’s been a pleasure witnessing the growth, confidence, and joy these kids have developed in just four weeks. And we’re only getting started!
