With over 15 years of experience, Dr. Amato has performed thousands of eyelid and facial surgeries. She and brings to Texas the highest level of training from Stanford and Georgetown Universities, with board certification and completion of an accredited 2-year ASOPRS Oculofacial Surgery fellowship. As a female surgeon, she provides a personalized touch to patient care. “There is no greater joy than a happy patient.”
Dr. Amato is a native of St. Louis, Missouri. She rowed competitively for Oxford University and graduated Magnum Cum Laude from Boston College. She completed general surgery Internship at Stanford Hospital in Palo Alto, CA and Ophthalmology Residency at Georgetown University in Washington, DC. She completed her ASOPRS fellowship in Austin, TX and MD Anderson in Houston, TX. She went on to serve as adjunct clinical faculty at Georgetown University and the University of Maryland while practicing in Annapolis, MD. She relocated to Northern California where she practiced at Kaiser Permanente, and continued to teach and do research as an adjunct clinical professor at Stanford Hospital. She has numerous publications in peer-reviewed journals and participates in state and national professional organizations including the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons and the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
As an international speaker and educator, she developed a special interest in medical missions, assisting underserved countries including Vietnam, Brazil, Egypt, Zimbabwe and Cambodia with organizations such as SEE International, Eyes on Africa, Face the Challenge and International Medical Relief Organization. She returned to Austin in 2013 with her husband and two young boys. She has become highly respected in the community, selected Austin’s Top Doctor and Super Doctor 4 years in a row and served as president of the Austin Ophthalmology Society. She was recently appointed adjunct faculty at Dell Medical School. She is the founder of Eyelid & Facial Plastic Surgery Associates in Austin, TX. She and her family enjoy skiing, traveling and giving back.
As a leader in her field, Dr. Amato strives to provide cutting edge minimally invasive techniques in cosmetic facial rejuvenation and reconstruction for all ages. Dr. Amato looks forward to the opportunity to care for her patients in a new state-of-the-art office opening in Austin in the Spring of 2018. She is currently taking care of patients in the underserved area of El Paso, TX.
