The national average to see your doctor is 31 days. Yikes!!! That's why I rely on Althing Clinic. They are located on the back side of Riverland Community College and are the Best! Instant walk-in. They are my personal Primary care.

Doctor shortages can mean delays in getting appointments and care—but patients who understand the system can find ways to break through.

It's time for this years Austin Acupuncture's Winter Forecast. After consulting the squirrels, flies, burly bugs, maple buds and dandelions, its now obvious to me that we should be expecting one of, if not THEEE most mild winters on record here in Southern Minnesota. A true record breaker, although mildly and gently. Instead of 6 weeks or true cold "winter" we should expect only 3 truly cold temperature weeks. Hardly any snow throughout the season :-( and an early spring too. Hardly a winter at all, this year. Mild, mild mild...
Sorry skiers and snowmobilers...
(This picture is a dandelion I found blooming in my neighborhood this weekend. It should not be. ;-)

Happy Halloween Everyone!!! (Or should I say "Happy Samhain"!?!)
Did you know that we celebrate Halloween on the wrong day? Traditionally, cultures around the world celebrated a holiday on the day that marked the midway-point of the Autumn season... Which is today, November 6th... not October 31st.
The Halloween that we are familiar with was set on October 31st by the Pope Gregory when he developed his calendar for the western world a couple of centuries ago. But historically, cultures around the world celebrated what we might consider Halloween on THIS day... the mid-point of Autumn.
In many cultures, today is celebrated as a day of perfect balance (which is why they say the dead can come back and roam the countryside on this night). In many other cultures it is considered to be their the first day of their New Year... while in other cultures as the end of summer.
In northern cultures, because of this perfect balance of energies, it was thought that the veil between the living and the dead was at its most thin, allowing deceased relatives and spirits to return to Earth and roam among us. Spooky, right?
So several cultures had a tradition of having ā€œDumb Suppersā€, where the family would invite their departed relatives into their home where the dead spirits could share a feast and be entertained by acts of singing and dancing by the children. That seems nice.
Fun.
