Most of you know someone that has been affected by alcoholism and/or drug addiction. I'll be the first to raise my hand. That's why I'm proud to work for and support Bee Cave Recovery, a nonprofit addiction treatment facility that serves anyone in our community that wants sobriety. We will never turn someone away because they can not afford treatment. Right now we are growing in referral numbers. Not only do our clients need help, but we need it, too. We need to hire another clinician so our underserved priority population isn't sitting on a waitlist while they are struggling to literally stay alive. There are not enough treatment centers in Austin that are funded by state and federal grants. We are one of five so if we can not treat someone immediately, it can be dangerous, especially when dealing with the opioid epidemic. I know we have some generous friends here. Please consider Bee Cave Recovery this year with a one time donation. We are participating in Amplify Austin so you can go to: https://www.amplifyatx.org/organizations/bee-cave-recovery and donate right now.

Veteran’s Day is one day to say thank you to our dedicated service members, but we are grateful EVERYDAY for their sacrifices. We would like to recognize one of our own, Dennis McCarty, who served with the United States Marine Corps. Dennis was part of two WestPac tours and served aboard the USS Kitty Hawk and the USS Enterprise. He guarded the nuclear weapons onboard the aircraft carrier while traveling to Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Australia and parts of Africa.

We honor Dennis and the other great men and women who have served our nation. Thank you.

This lovely lady serves as our Business Manager at Bee Cave Recovery. Denise Anderson started out creating our logo and helping with our first fundraiser. Since then, her role has expanded to keep up with the growth of our IOP.

Denise is new to the recovery industry and like many of us through our own lived experiences, she has also been impacted. Alcoholism is a family disease and those around the alcoholic are affected. She brings perspective and insight to essential aspects of our programming. We are glad to have her here.

If you are someone you love needs help, please call us and we can talk with you.

When you come in our doors, you will hear this saying. It might take a moment or a while or quite some time, but you will come to understand what this saying means. In recovery, change is more than just changing your location, who you hang out with, and what you do in your everyday life. Changing everything happens within yourself.

If you are someone you love needs help, please call us and we can talk with you.

This great guy right here is not only our Executive Director, but he recently celebrated his 20th year of sobriety. As Jim Anderson tells us, “There’s a moment when we concede to our innermost selves that we are an alcoholic and God opens a door for us. Don’t be afraid to go through that door. On June 24, 2001, I saw that door open and I wasn’t afraid to go through it. I threw out all my vodka bottles and entered treatment with an Intensive Outpatient Program the next day. Two and a half weeks later, I was in my apartment in California and laid back on my bed staring at the ceiling thinking I wanted to drink, but I didn’t want to drink. I asked God for help and he removed the obsession and it hasn’t returned. From that moment, I got busy and I worked the steps. Once you make the decision, you turn your life over to the care of God. It was God’s help but also my action. The steps are all about action. You can’t sit idly by, it requires total effort with complete abandon.”

Jim’s sobriety date is June 24, 2001.

If you or someone you love needs help, please call us and we can talk with you.

Sometimes we might feel like we don’t deserve love from others, but we really do. We need to take care of our emotional, physical, mental and spiritual needs. When we are starting out in recovery, this may seem hard to do, but when we let others in, it gets better. Call us to help you start your road to recovery.
