October is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness month, and today at 7:00 there will be an International Wave of Light. Will you join me in lighting a candle to honor all the babies gone too soon?

The babies you never got a chance to meet, or the babies that died at or soon after birth? Grief after perinatal loss is real, and this is one way we can honor the babies we were hoping to hold and nurture.

I will be lighting a candle in honor of the 2 babies of mine I never got to meet as well as all my clients' babies. I feel honored to hold their stories of grief and hope.

Happy Juneteenth from PPHA!

On June 19, 1865 emancipation of slavery went in to effect in Galveston, TX, the last city in the United States to receive news of emancipation. Today, we celebrate freedom.

On this day you can celebrate Juneteenth and support Black mothers by:
•Donating to Black Mamas Matter.
•Educating yourself on the history of Juneteenth.
•Participating in a Virtual Juneteenth celebration.
•Supporting a Black owned business (check out )
•Write to your local officials encouraging them to support Black maternal care.
•Donate to allow Black mothers to receive doula care and lactation consultation.
•Donate to to support the mental health of Black Women.

How are you celebrating Juneteenth?

Encouraging all of us to lean into the discomfort.

Encouraging all of us to lean into the discomfort.

I love to see y'all rushing to sign petitions and support Black businesses. I love it all, please know I do. This is taking ACTION and I'm all for it!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
However, make no mistake, much of this work, when I say , is HEART WORK.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Until we can get uncomfortable, look at ourselves in the mirrors and take responsibility, there will never be lasting change.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Our little humans are watching us closely. They are looking to us on how to view themselves and others. Please do the work INSIDE so that you can make sure your ACTIONS match up today, tomorrow, and for years to come. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I can't tell you exactly how to do this work because much of this is a personal journey, but here are some suggestions to get you started. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I believe in you. I am rooting for you, always. I am pushing you because I know it's what you need. I trust you all will rise to this occasion. I still have hope in humanity, which is why I am making sure my voice is heard on this platform. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Please continue to fight.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Don't back down. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Don't take your foot off this gas. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Please let this be the straw that broke the camel's back. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Our children are depending on us to set an example. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Much love, always, ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
