North Texas District Chair Matt Huey spent time connecting with our student members and capturing their experiences as they advocated for the profession.

Thank you, Matt, for your boots-on-the-ground reporting and for helping bring these moments back to our TPTA community.

More to come, so stay tuned. Here’s the first installment of Huey on the Hill.

A special thanks to three of TPTA’s Executive Board leaders who were on Capitol Hill this week representing Texas at APTA’s Capitol Hill Day 🇺🇸

(from left to right)
TPTA Speaker of the Assembly Chad Jackson, PT, DPT
TPTA Secretary Matt Huey, PT, MPT, Dip MDT, FAAOMPT
TPTA President Michael Geelhoed, PT, DPT, OCS, MTC

They partnered with fellow professional members to support and mentor student attendees and led meetings with legislators and staff to advocate for the physical therapy profession and the patients we serve. Thank you for bringing the voice of Texas PTs to the national stage.

Advocacy doesn’t just happen in the clinic, it happens in conversations, relationships, and moments like these that shape the future of our profession.

Thank you to our leaders for showing up, speaking out, and making an impact for PT! 👏

Therapy Thursday: Myth or Fact?
You should completely rest when you’re in pain.

What do you think?

While rest can help short-term, too much inactivity can actually slow recovery.

Physical therapists often recommend safe, guided movement to reduce pain and improve mobility.

Do you prefer to rest or keep moving? Does it help?

Lower back pain is widely recognized as the most common reason adults seek outpatient physical therapy. It’s a leading cause of disability worldwide and often results from everyday activities like lifting, bending, or prolonged sitting.

In many clinical settings, lower back conditions account for the highest volume of patient cases, making it a key focus area for physical therapists.
