It’s . Save this for later and share it with someone who may not know.

Physical therapy may feel modern, but its roots go back thousands of years.

Early practitioners, including Hippocrates, recognized the power of movement, manual techniques, and hands-on care to support healing and recovery.

While the profession has evolved significantly, the core principle remains the same: helping people move better and live healthier lives.

Does it surprise you that physical therapy has been around this long?

Did you get it right? Nydia, Courtney, Jolly and Elena did!

The Masseter (jaw muscle) is the strongest muscle in the body relative to its size. It can close the teeth with a force as great as 200 pounds on the molars.

Physical therapy isn't just for backs and knees. It is highly effective for the jaw!

Jaw Discomfort?: Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) dysfunction causes jaw pain, clicking, or locking. Physical therapists can help reduce pain and improve jaw function through manual therapy and tailored exercises.
How’s Your Posture?: Jaw pain is often linked to forward head posture. Physical therapists treat the neck and upper back to take the strain off the jaw muscles.
Trouble Speaking or Chewing After an Injury?: After jaw surgery or injury, physical therapists help restore normal function for speaking and chewing with guided exercises.

Did this one surprise you? Did you know physical therapy can help with jaw pain?

Small movements throughout the day can make a big difference in how your body feels.

Research shows prolonged sitting, especially more than 8 hours a day with little movement, is linked to increased health risks.

The good news? Even short movement breaks throughout the day can make a difference.

Move in ways that support your body and mobility. Try adding simple movement into your routine:
• Stand or stretch every 30–60 minutes
• Roll your shoulders forward and backward to release tension
• Take short walking breaks when possible
• Try seated stretches or arm movements
• For neck mobility, slowly tilt your head side to side or look left and right

Physical therapists help people stay active, prevent injury, and keep moving at every stage of life.

What’s your favorite way to add movement during the day?
