Welcome to the Maternal Abdominal Morphology Assessment (MAMA) page! The MAMA study aims to examine changes in the pancreas that occur during pregnancy, in both pregnant mothers and their babies, and find out how they are affected by diabetes.

Curious about what your baby looks like in an MRI scan? MRI is a unique way to see your baby grow up and allows you to see your baby in more detail than ultrasound does! The MAMA study aims to examine changes in the pancreas that occur during pregnancy, in both pregnant mothers and their babies, and find out how they are affected by diabetes. Ingrid Harris graduated from The University of Texas at Austin in 2020 with a B.S. in Human Biology and completed an MPH in Epidemiology at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston in 2023. She is passionate about maternal health and is the Research Coordinator for the MAMA Study.

Jack Virostko is an Associate Professor of Diagnostic Medicine in the Dell Medical School at the University of Texas at Austin and the Principal Investigator of the MAMA Study. His research focuses on the use of MRI to understand changes to the pancreas that occur during diabetes.
