Patient Story Series | Kathy Turner - Part 1

At 64, Kathy Turner made a decision many people spend years thinking about but never act on: she chose to put herself first.

As a busy business owner, life had always come before personal goals. Work, responsibilities, and everything else seemed to take priority. But eventually she reached a moment many patients recognize — looking in the mirror and realizing certain changes simply weren’t going away with time, discipline, or effort.

That’s when Kathy decided it was time.

After discussing her goals during consultation, we created a surgical plan that included a Mommy Makeover 360, designed to address abdominal contour and restore balance to her midsection. The result wasn’t just about improving shape — it was about helping her feel comfortable and confident in her body again.

What stands out most about Kathy’s story isn’t just the transformation. It’s her mindset: deciding that taking care of yourself isn’t selfish — it’s necessary.

Her journey is honest, empowering, and incredibly inspiring.

Watch to hear Kathy share her experience in her own words.

And stay tuned — Part 2 of Kathy’s story drops soon.

At just 6 weeks post-op, this transformation already speaks volumes. Through a Tummy Tuck 360, Dr. Reid precisely tightened the abdominal wall, removed excess skin, and refined the waistline for a smoother, more sculpted midsection.

While swelling continues to settle and scars mature over the next several months, the foundation for long-term results is already taking shape—revealing balance, contour, and renewed confidence.

This procedure isn’t just about aesthetics—it’s about restoration. For many patients, it means repairing muscle separation (diastasis recti), improving posture, and feeling comfortable and strong in their own body again.

With over two decades of surgical experience, Dr. Reid approaches each case with artistry and precision—focusing on proportions that feel natural, refined, and beautifully individual.

Liposuction vs. Tummy Tuck: What’s the Difference?

This is one of the most common conversations I have in consultation. Many patients assume they’re interchangeable. They’re not. The key difference comes down to what we’re treating: fat, skin, or muscle.

Here’s how I explain it clearly:

1️⃣ What Liposuction Does

Liposuction removes subcutaneous fat — the layer of fat just beneath the skin.

It’s a great option if you:
• Have stubborn fat pockets
• Have good skin elasticity
• Do not have loose skin or muscle separation

If your skin is tight and your main concern is fullness, liposuction can contour very effectively.

2️⃣ What a Tummy Tuck Does

A tummy tuck removes excess skin, tightens the abdominal muscles, and can remove fat at the same time.

You may need a tummy tuck if you:
• Have loose or stretched skin after pregnancy or weight loss
• Notice bulging when you sit up or lift your legs (a sign of diastasis recti)
• See stretch marks and skin laxity below the belly button

Muscle separation cannot be fixed with liposuction. It requires surgical repair, which is done during a tummy tuck.

3️⃣ Can You Combine Them?

Yes — and often that’s the best solution.

When I combine circumferential liposuction with a tummy tuck, we contour the entire trunk and tighten the abdomen at the same time. I call this a Tummy Tuck 360. It creates a smoother waistline and a more defined silhouette from every angle.

I also prioritize:
• A very low incision, typically hidden by underwear or a bikini
• Natural-looking belly button shaping
• Proportional contour, not over-tightening

The right procedure depends entirely on your anatomy and goals. That decision is made together, after a thorough evaluation.

One year ago, this patient chose to invest in himself. Not to become someone different, but to finally see the physique he had worked for reflected back in the mirror. Despite discipline in the gym and consistency with nutrition, certain areas simply would not respond.

With VASER Hi-Def Liposuction, Dr. Dustin Reid focused on strategic fat removal and detailed contouring to enhance natural muscle definition. The goal was not to create something artificial, but to uncover what was already there and bring balance and proportion to the torso.

Twelve months later, the results are refined, athletic, and lasting. More importantly, the change extends beyond appearance. It shows up in the way he stands, the way he moves, and the quiet confidence that comes from feeling aligned with your body.

With more than two decades of experience, Dr. Reid is known for combining surgical precision with an artistic understanding of the male physique. Every Hi-Def case is thoughtfully planned, individualized, and executed with long-term results in mind.

What made Dr. Reid fall in love with plastic surgery? 👀

In this rapid fire segment, we go deeper than procedures.

As a fourth-year medical student, he witnessed a complex reconstructive case where pectoralis muscles were used to close a life-threatening chest wound. The precision. The anatomy. The immediate impact. That was the moment he knew this was his calling.

Over time, that passion evolved into aesthetic surgery but the core purpose never changed. It has always been about transformation, both technically and emotionally.

When asked what part of the patient journey means the most, his answer is simple: the final result and hearing how it truly changed someone’s life. The confidence. The relief. The freedom.

And the one thing he wishes every patient understood before surgery? It is a journey. Healing takes time. Results evolve. But when you trust the process, you get to that final, beautiful outcome.

Watch the full segment to hear it in his own words.

Top surgery — 6 weeks post-op. Double incision approach.

At six weeks, swelling is still settling and scars are still early — but the transformation is already clear.

For patients with moderate to larger amounts of tissue or excess skin, the double incision technique allows for complete removal of glandular tissue, precise contouring of the chest, and proper repositioning of the ni**le and ar**la. It’s not just about making the chest flat — it’s about creating masculine proportions that look natural on that individual’s frame.

In this case, you can see:
• elimination of breast fullness
• improved chest contour
• balanced ni**le positioning
• early scar healing along the lower pectoral border

Six weeks is still the beginning of the healing journey. Scars will continue to mature, fade, and soften over the coming months, and final contour will continue to refine.

The goal is always the same — a chest that aligns with who you are and allows you to move through the world comfortably and confidently.

Not all Top Surgery techniques are the same — and choosing the right approach depends entirely on anatomy.

When I evaluate a patient for Top Surgery, I’m looking at three key factors:

1️⃣ the amount of breast tissue present
2️⃣ the quality and elasticity of the skin
3️⃣ the position of the ni**le and ar**la

The most common technique is the double incision approach. This involves an incision along the lower border of the pectoralis muscle, allowing for complete removal of breast tissue and excess skin. This approach gives me the ability to sculpt a flat, masculine chest and reposition the ni**le and ar**la when needed.

For patients with a smaller chest — typically around a B cup or less — and no significant skin laxity, an ar**lar (peri-ar**lar) approach may be appropriate. In these cases, the ni**le is already well positioned, and we focus on removing the underlying glandular tissue while allowing the skin to contract naturally.

The right technique isn’t chosen by preference — it’s chosen by anatomy. That decision happens during a thorough consultation and physical examination to ensure the best long-term result.

Every chest is different. The surgical plan should be too.

GLP-1 medications and liposuction are both powerful tools — but they’re designed for very different goals! 🧬

GLP-1s are best suited for patients who need overall weight reduction. They work systemically by decreasing appetite and helping reduce total body fat. The result is a lower number on the scale — but fat loss happens everywhere, not selectively. You don’t control where it comes off first, and changes in shape can be unpredictable.

Liposuction is different. It’s for patients who are already near their goal weight but struggle with specific, stubborn fat pockets that won’t respond to diet or exercise. It’s not about dropping pounds — it’s about refining contours and improving proportion.

The ideal candidate depends on the objective:

• If your primary concern is overall weight and metabolic health → GLP-1 may be appropriate.

• If your concern is shape, balance, and resistant areas → liposuction may be the better solution.

• If you’ve lost weight but still don’t love your proportions → a combined, staged approach is often the most strategic plan.

In many cases, reducing overall fat load first and then contouring selectively creates the most natural, balanced result. Timing and evaluation matter.

Swipe through to understand who each option is best for — and why personalized planning makes all the difference.

What am I looking at before surgery — that you might not even notice?

Long before a patient enters the operating room, I’m studying details. Subtle asymmetries. Natural differences. Small variations that most people have — but rarely see.

With breast and body surgery, that might mean:
• One ni**le sitting slightly lower
• A longer inframammary fold on one side
• Minor differences in shape or projection

With facial surgery, it could be:
• Uneven nostrils
• A brow that sits slightly lower
• Subtle structural imbalance

These differences are completely normal. But once surgery is done and patients begin analyzing their results more closely, they often notice things they never saw before.

That’s why pre-surgical assessment is critical.

The goal isn’t perfection — it’s awareness. Having these conversations beforehand sets realistic expectations, prevents surprises, and builds trust before we ever step into the OR.

Precision starts long before the first incision.

refined rhinoplasty is about listening first — then sculpting with intention.

For this lovely patient, the goal wasn’t to look different. It was to feel more confident in her own features. She wanted a softer profile, improved balance, and a nose that felt natural on her face — not something trendy or overdone.

Through careful planning and precise technique, we addressed the areas that were bothering her while preserving her individuality. The result is a nose that fits her facial anatomy, enhances her profile, and feels like it’s always belonged there.

This is what we strive for with every rhinoplasty:
• harmony, not distraction
• refinement, not reinvention
• results that look effortless and age beautifully over time

Performed by Dr. Dustin Reid, each case is approached with a deep respect for facial balance, structure, and the patient’s personal goals.

In this segment, Dr. Reid and Roxy break down what many men experience but rarely understand: the hormone trap.

Gynecomastia isn’t caused by body fat. It’s caused by the overdevelopment of actual breast tissue, often beginning during puberty. When a man loses weight, the surrounding fat decreases — but the glandular tissue remains. The result? The chest can appear more pronounced, more conical, and more frustrating than before.

That’s why many men who are lean, athletic, and disciplined still struggle with fullness beneath the ar**la — an area no amount of diet or exercise can change.

If you’ve ever thought, “I’m doing everything right… why does my chest still look this way?” — this is a must-watch.
