✨ Meet Adriana, LCSW (she/her/ella) ✨

“We are wired for connection, and healing does not happen in isolation.”

Adriana was drawn to this work through her own lived experiences. Through both the highs and lows of her life, she had people who showed up for her — and she knew she wanted to offer that same kind of support to others.

She considers it a deep honor to connect, heal, and grow alongside the people she works with. Creating a space where you feel seen, understood, and not alone is central to her work.

Adriana most often supports clients navigating complex trauma, boundary setting, and interpersonal effectiveness. Her approach is relational and tailored to each person, integrating DBT skill-building in an organic way, along with Attachment Theory, Narrative Therapy, ACT, and Gottman Method work with couples.

She is also comfortable offering therapy in Spanglish for clients who feel most at home blending languages in session.

If you’re considering therapy and want a space rooted in connection and compassion, learn more about working with Adriana at the link in our bio.

✨ Join us tonight at Moonchild’s Community Series ✨

We’re honored to be part of Moonchild’s show at Empire Control Room where our CEO, Vanessa, will be interviewed live on stage about the work we do at Colors of Austin Counseling and how our community can support mental health.

In light of the heaviness many in Austin have been feeling recently, this event is also an opportunity to come together through music, conversation, and community.

A portion of ticket sales from the night will be donated to support therapy access for individuals who may not otherwise be able to receive care.

Our team will also be there tabling before and after the show — come say hello and learn more about our services and programs.

Connection can be a powerful catalyst for growth and healing — especially when it happens in a space where you feel seen, heard, and supported.

Our Women’s Connection Circle is designed to bring women together to explore relational patterns, share experiences, and build meaningful connections in a thoughtful and structured environment.

In a world that often encourages independence above all else, spaces for genuine connection can be deeply grounding.

If you’ve been craving community, navigating a transition, or simply wanting to connect more authentically with others, this group may resonate with you.

When someone we care about is going through a hard time, many of us instinctively move into “fixing” mode. We offer advice, solutions, or try to make the situation better as quickly as possible.

While this usually comes from a place of care, what people often need most in difficult moments is to feel heard, understood, and not alone.

Listening creates space for someone to process their experience. It communicates presence, curiosity, and support — without pressure to solve everything right away.

You don’t need the perfect words. Often, simply being willing to listen can mean more than having the answer.

✨ Meet Claudia Hernandez Vargas (she/her/ella) ✨

Claudia was drawn to this work after noticing the lack of mental health resources and awareness within the Latino community. That experience continues to shape the heart of her practice.

In the therapy room, Claudia creates a space where clients are encouraged to take up space — to recognize their strength, their potential, and acknowledge themselves for all that they are.

Her approach blends CBT, DBT, attachment work, and parts work, with a strong emphasis on culture and environment. Claudia believes we are shaped by our circumstances, relationships, and communities — and she offers a safe space to explore culture, even when it feels complicated or uncomfortable.

Claudia works with all ages, and especially enjoys supporting:
✨ Pre-teens learning lifelong emotional regulation skills
✨ Young adults navigating identity, independence, and adulthood

She offers therapy in English, Spanish, or Spanglish, depending on what feels most comfortable.

Outside of the therapy room, you’ll find her hiking under trees (she’s a big tree person 🌳), reading, or learning to crochet — all ways she resets and reconnects.

If you’re looking for a therapist who values culture, attachment, and helping you take up space in your life, Claudia may be a great fit.

This past weekend has shaken our Austin community.

We are holding space for those impacted and recognizing the heaviness many may be carrying.

In moments like this, community matters.

On April 6th, we’ll be joining Moonchild at Empire Control Room for their Community Series — a space that brings music and meaningful conversation together. 🎶

✨ Our CEO, Vanessa, will be interviewed live on stage about our mental health work and how we can support one another during difficult times.

A portion of ticket sales that night will be donated to help fund therapy for individuals who may not otherwise be able to access care for a variety of reasons. These contributions directly support expanding access to mental health services within our community.

We will also have information available about the services we provide, including our Affordable Therapy Program.

Our team will be there to connect, answer questions, and share ways to get involved.

We hope you’ll join us as we gather, honor our city, and continue building a culture of care.

✨ Meet Erika Settles (she/they) ✨

Erika’s work centers on the power of story — the stories that shape how we love, protect ourselves, survive, and make meaning of our lives.

In therapy, Erika creates a collaborative space where your voice leads. With curiosity, warmth, and honesty, they help clients explore how early relationships may still be present today, name the places they felt silenced, and recognize the strengths they’ve carried all along.

Erika works especially well with adults navigating “in-between spaces” — life transitions, identity shifts, attachment wounds, late-diagnosed neurodivergence, parenting while reparenting yourself, and the chaos of midlife.

Their approach blends narrative therapy, attachment work, and CBT, all through a liberation-focused lens that honors the generational and systemic layers shaping your experience.

If you’ve ever felt overlooked, misunderstood, or like you’ve never quite had space to be fully yourself — this might resonate.

Trauma Conscious Yoga Method (TCYM) is a body-based therapeutic approach that integrates somatic principles with mindful movement and breathwork to support nervous system regulation and embodied healing.

Unlike traditional yoga classes, TCYM prioritizes choice, safety, and internal awareness. The focus is not on physical performance — but on how your body feels and what it needs.

This approach can be especially supportive for trauma, anxiety, and disconnection from the body, and can be integrated alongside talk therapy.

Eating disorders impact millions of individuals and families across genders, ages, and backgrounds.

They are shaped by biological, psychological, relational, and cultural factors — not by willpower.

During Eating Disorder Awareness Week, we want to reduce stigma, increase understanding, and remind our community that recovery is possible with compassionate, evidence-based support.

If you or someone you love is struggling, support exists — and healing is possible.

Overthinking and processing can look similar on the surface — both involve reflection. But they have very different effects on your nervous system.

Processing moves you toward clarity.
Overthinking keeps you in a loop.

The key difference isn’t how much you think — it’s whether you’re allowing emotion to move through you or trying to think your way out of it.

Save this for the next time your brain won’t turn off.
