Hold Your Horses Equine Massage

Hold Your Horses Equine Massage Certified Equine Sports Massage Therapist Chrissy was born and raised in New Hampshire and grew up riding and working with horses.

She took lessons in multiple disciplines and was involved in equine 4-H programs throughout childhood, and bought her first horse in junior high school. During high school she assisted in teaching youth riding lessons, worked as a summer horse camp counselor, and was an active member of her high school equestrian team. Chrissy continued riding regularly throughout college while she earned her degree in Communications at Keene State. After graduating, she enrolled in a working student program at a local hunter/jumper barn. She continued taking regular lessons while living both in Boston, MA and Austin, TX. After moving back to NH, Chrissy took on a full time position at the barn where she was previously a working student, where she became inspired to pursue the therapy sector of the equine industry after seeing how bodywork benefitted the horses she worked with. Chrissy is a Certified Equine Sports Massage Therapist in the Amassage Method through the Midwest School of Natural Healing for Animals. She currently practices in the greater Austin, TX area.

BIG yawns 🥱 from these two gold star massage recipients 🥹🐴

I absolutely love when horses yawn during massage, as it is their way of showing deep relaxation and release

One of the ranch staff members sent me the last two photos of this beautiful mare, Avalon, enjoying a nap right after our session. COME ON how sweet is that?!

is a nonprofit just outside Austin that provides equine-based therapy. I am honored to support their cause and offer these incredible therapy horses well deserved relief ♥️

I got my equine sports massage therapy certification through MNHA and I HIGHLY recommend this school and program for anyone interested in an education in equine therapy!
The owner and teacher, Beverly, is incredible to work with and passionate about the success of her students. This program teaches far beyond the massage process itself and provides the tools you need to provide the best possible service to both horses and clients!

One of my favorite steps in the massage process is reviewing the before and after- in person, the horse is so much more relaxed that you can feel the energy shift, and their fluidity of movement makes you breathe a sigh of relief!

In photos, you really get to process the visible relaxation of individual muscle groups

I am so pleased that this horse felt relief in so many areas- this is why I do what I do ❤️

The works for this sweet gelding, Buzz!!

We relieved tightness in his right pec/shoulder to help even out his front end and increase definition, in his poll/TMJ to relax his face and head, and in his hind end to level out his hips.

This was this guy’s first ever massage! 😍 So happy to be able to help him feel his best 💕

The horses at Elm Farm Learning Center have incredibly important jobs as therapy horses, serving our community in equine facilitated learning programs 🐴 What an absolute privilege to be able to give back to these horses in the form of equine massage 🫶🏼

Pictured here is Findlay- within his first hour-long session we released multiple muscle knots through the shoulder, and we can see overall relaxation of the thoracic sling resulting in a dropped ribcage and corrected self-carriage! 💆‍♂️

Yes, horses can even hold tension in their face and head!

Tightness can pull the facial features up or down depending on origin, and in this horse’s case he had more prominent tension on one side of his head in the poll and TMJ, giving an uneven or lopsided appearance to the eyes.

The post-massage photo speaks for itself! 👀

Zara has been out of work for several months with a suspensory injury, and I was so glad to be a part of her rehab process! 🙌

Massage helps to increase circulation and relieve pain as a horse heals from an injury. Horses will also compensate for pain, which in turn causes tension and muscle knots in the compensatory muscles, so working these things out helps the horse to move more naturally 💆‍♀️🐴

Zara had some beautiful releases, sleepy faces, and was of course sure to check my f***y pack for treats 😂

A horse’s topline is indicative of their overall health ⭐️

There are 6 weeks and 3 massages between the top and bottom picture here! In combination with increased frequency of healthy movement and improved diet, massage can help improve the musculature of the topline. This horse’s withers and are filling in nicely and his pelvic tilt better angled in just a few short weeks! 🙌

Awesome results for my friend Ryder! 😍
Imagine how those knots felt in his ribs and the muscles near his tail - ouch.
But imagine how they felt after! Massage offers increased circulation in the area the muscles were once tense, which means those knots are less likely to return. 👏
