It is a great honor to contribute alongside this distinguished panel of facial plastic surgeons, plastic surgeons, and dermatologist in authoring this consensus statement on perioperative recommendations for facelift patients who have undergone prior minimally invasive treatments, including injectables, energy-based devices, threads, and lasers.

In light of recent controversies surrounding facelift surgery following such interventions, it is deeply rewarding to offer evidence-based, treatment-specific guidelines designed to optimize safety and outcomes.

This paper aims to equip fellow facelift surgeons with practical insights that maximize surgical safety, optimize outcomes,, and elevate patient satisfaction. I also hope that my injector colleagues will find value in a surgeon’s perspective on adapting surgical management in the presence of prior minimally invasive procedures.

“I haven’t liked my chin or neck since my 20s”

During our initial meeting, this beautiful patient shared with me that she been bothered by her side profile for as long as she can remember. Evaluating her anatomy, this made sense as she had anatomical features that typically lead to poor definition and illusion of excess weight in the neck/jawline, even in youth. As the aging process begins to declare itself, these features are accentuated.

A smoother jawline and renewed confidence from every angle!

This beautiful patient in her late 40s underwent a deep plane extended facelift with a deep structural neck lift and temporal lift, along with an upper blepharoplasty. The result: refined contours, improved definition, and a refreshed appearance - while still looking unmistakably like herself!

A comprehensive EYE rejuvenation!

For years, this delightful patient felt that her heavy eyelids and undereye bags made her appear tired and aged beyond her years. If you look closely at the forehead, you will see quite of bit of straining present in her preop photos, as the brows are working hard to keep the heavy tissues and excess skin off the eyes. In the after photo, this strain is relieved and the eyes look relaxed and pleasant. These are the tiny details that make the biggest difference in one’s appearance without imparting the dreaded “operated look”.

I performed the following procedures to address her concerns:

➕Temporal lift: to reset the brows, alleviate heaviness and open up the outer corner of the eye

➕Upper blepharoplasty: to trim excess skin that was hiding her natural crease and impinging on her vision

➕Lower blepharoplasty with fat repositioning: to remove while simultaneously restoring volume to the hollow region and trim excess skin

So excited to share this result on my beautiful patient that underwent lower blepharoplasty with fat transposition to correct her premature undereye bags.

This can affect anyone, even those in their 20s and 30s, often due to genetic factors.

If you’ve tried everything—sleeping more, eating healthier, or non-invasive treatments—yet still see those stubborn bags, you’re not alone. I see young patients on a daily basis for this condition.

What a joy seeing my dear friend-turned-patient for her 6 month post-operative visit today! Yvette was one of the first people I encountered in the aesthetic community when I moved to Austin almost 5 years ago. She was so kind, gracious, and welcoming to me when she didn’t have to be to a newcomer. Today, I celebrated my Birthday in the Operating Room, doing what I love- transforming faces and confidence!

I had the privilege of operating on a remarkable patient that lost 170lbs and decided to have surgery to correct some premature aging changes that typically occur with weight loss.

What a time to reflect on my blessings. Still have to pinch myself that I own my private practice, operate an on-site surgical facility, lead an OR team, serve as a mentor, and get to meet incredible individuals on a daily basis that give me the honor of trusting me with their faces.
