Reconstructive and cosmetic surgery often go hand in hand.

In this video, Dr. Ehanire explains how the principles used in reconstructive surgery—restoring form, function, and balance—also play a key role in achieving natural-looking cosmetic results. The same attention to detail, anatomy, and surgical precision helps ensure outcomes that not only enhance appearance but also support overall harmony.

This past weekend, Dr. Dumestre and Dr. Ehanire attended a conference on Resensation by Axogen, a cutting-edge technique in breast reconstruction.

After a mastectomy, many patients lose sensation in the breast because nerves are disrupted during surgery. Resensation uses nerve grafts to reconnect these nerves during reconstruction, giving the breast the potential to regain feeling over time.

Restoring sensation isn’t just about touch—it can improve overall quality of life, body confidence, and emotional well-being for breast cancer survivors.

Staying up-to-date on innovations like this ensures our patients have access to the latest advancements in breast reconstruction.

A transformation designed with intention, balance, and confidence in mind ✨

This 31 year old patient presented with tuberous breasts and desired a more symmetrical, natural, and lifted result. One year after surgery, she is shown here following a breast lift with implant placement, using 265cc on the right and 365cc on the left to create beautiful balance and proportion.

Every detail matters, especially when it comes to correcting asymmetry and enhancing shape. This result reflects a personalized approach tailored to her anatomy and goals.

Procedure performed by Dr. Danielle Dumestre at Austin Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.

Thinking about DIEP flap reconstruction? Here’s what actually makes a good candidate 👇🏼

Dr. Dumestre explains that ideal candidates for a DIEP flap typically:
• Have enough lower abdominal tissue to create a natural breast shape
• Are in overall good health for a longer, more complex surgery
• Do not smoke (or are willing to stop before and after surgery)
• Prefer a more natural reconstruction using their own tissue instead of implants

It’s also important to have healthy blood vessels to support the flap and realistic expectations about recovery and results.

Every patient is different, which is why a personalized consultation is key.

Save this if you’re researching breast reconstruction options 🤍

A beautifully restored, balanced result at 3 months post-op ✨

This patient in her 50s underwent a Mommy Makeover with Dr. Dumestre, including an abdominoplasty (tummy tuck), breast reduction with lift, and fat grafting.

• Abdominoplasty removes excess skin and tightens the abdominal muscles for a flatter, more toned core

• Breast reduction + lift alleviates heaviness while reshaping and elevating the breasts for a more youthful position

• Fat grafting uses the patient’s own fat to enhance contour and create soft, natural-looking volume

At 3 months, swelling continues to improve and results will keep refining over time.

Considering a tummy tuck but still planning to have children? Here’s what you should know.

In this video, Dr. Ehanire explains that pregnancy after a tummy tuck is medically safe. A tummy tuck does not affect the uterus or your ability to carry a pregnancy. However, pregnancy can stretch the abdominal muscles and skin again, which may alter the cosmetic results of the procedure.

For this reason, many surgeons recommend waiting until you are finished having children before undergoing a tummy tuck to help maintain long-term results. That said, every patient’s situation and goals are different, which is why a personalized consultation is so important.

If you’re considering a tummy tuck and have questions about timing around future pregnancies, our team is here to help guide you through your options. ✨
