What does it actually look like to show up as a father? ๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ๐Ÿ›๏ธโœจ

In this panel, our experts share their personal stories of navigating pregnancy, the birth room, and the first few months at home. Thereโ€™s no script for becoming a father, so these dads are sharing what they experienced, what caught them off guard, and what they wish they had known sooner.

We are honored to welcome a panel of resilient fathers, including Howard Douglas III, principal owner of Douglas Capital Advisors; Cecil Lockwood (known as Afrofuturist artist Starboi Quazarz); Gabe Reid, founder of Joyous Tutoring; Michael Ward Jr., CEO of Universal Tech Movement (UTM); and Bryon Hubbard, a tech professional. Joining them is William Morrison, a postpartum doula and Fatherhood Practitioner. William brings his expertise as a "Dou-Bro" to the conversation, highlighting how fathers can actively support the physical and emotional safety of mothers during and after birth.

Itโ€™s a raw and honest conversation about the challenges and the high points of being a present father, offered for anyone looking to understand the vital role a dad plays in a healthy birth journey. ๐Ÿค๐ŸพโœŠ๐Ÿพ

What does it look like when birth is treated as a healthy, joyful, and sacred event? It looks like "The Doula Difference."

For our afternoon session on Saturday, April 11th, weโ€™re exploring the measurable and profound impact of having a dedicated advocate who centers the humanity and autonomy of Black birth-givers. This session dives into how doulas provide the physical, emotional, and informational support that creates true structural safety.

We are honored to welcome a panel of experts, including Michelle Cruz, a passionate birth doula and Neurodivergent Child Birth Educator; Jasmine Douglas, an advocate for informed consent; Ebony Williams, a full-spectrum doula; and Alicia Rivera-Clemente, a community doula focusing on holistic, natural care. This conversation will be moderated by Valerie Rios, Executive Director of Partners in Parenting (PIP).

Together, weโ€™ll explore how community-led doula support changes outcomes for the whole village. When doulas are recognized as part of the care team, the narrative shifts from survival to flourishing. ๐Ÿค๐ŸพโœŠ๐Ÿพ
