After 43 grand years Dr Scott Mason has handed over the care and the keys of the office to a new family.
Come out today, April 7th, from 3-6pm to celebrate the retirement of Dr Mason and help welcome in Dr James Sweeney and family.
There will be food and drinks and good company!

As some of you may know Dr Ireland had to leave us to seek treatment when she was diagnosed with stage 4 triple negative metastatic breast cancer. She completed her chemo where the oncologist said her results were “phenomenal”.
Unfortunately chemo does not pass the blood brain barrier which caused the cancer to travel to her brain (as it does in many cases, not just hers). Dr Ireland has done lots of research and found a holistic oncologist with treatment options for her!
Insurance will not cover this alternative treatment so us girls at Ava Family Dental are doing what we can to help our dear friend. If anyone wishes to aid in her recovery donations can be made online or dropped off at the office.
Donations of any amount, and more importantly prayer, are accepted and very much appreciated.

Meet Our Staff!
Today we meet Micca Howard! When Dr Mason decided a year and a half ago he wanted to add a second assistant we had the perfect candidate in mind, we sought out Micca and begged her to join our team! She agreed to accept our invitation, bringing with her a willingness to learn, an outgoing personality, and a huge heart to care for our patients.
Micca likes to spend her days off cleaning houses with her best friend, swimming at the creek with her kids or just cuddling up to watch a movie with her fiancé. Micca grew up in Ava and has every intention of raising her family here.

Meet Our Staff!
Today we meet our hygienist, Rebecca Moore! Rebecca has been a registered dental hygienist for 20years! She began working part time at Ava Family Dental in 2016 and became full time a year later. Rebecca is very knowledgeable, gentle, quick to connect with the patients, good at removing that stubborn tartar.... so basically she’s the bomb.
Rebecca grew up in Oregon which is where she met and married her husband and brought 2 beautiful girls into the world. Their family dreams of having their own little farm brought them to Wasola Missouri 10 years ago. Rebecca took a break from work to be a stay at home mom, homeschool teacher and wife as her and her family built their life here. Once her girls because a little more self sufficient (now teenagers 😱) Rebecca decided to return to work outside her home and she chose Ava Family Dental! And boy are we glad she did!

Meet Our staff!
Today we will meet Brittany Degase. Brittany has been an assistant of the Dr for 5 years! She loves her job and the people she has met along the way.
Brittany grew up in Ava and continues to reside here to raise her family. During her time not at the office Brittany keeps herself busy taking care of her 4 children, a dog, a cat, and a few chickens along side her husband Ransome. If you don’t find her at home you will more than likely find Brittany visiting her local relatives or at church.

Welcome to the first post of “Meet Our Staff!” For anyone new to the community or looking for a dentistry home, we would like to welcome you and introduce you to our little office!
First, our senior team member, Lorna Welch! Lorna grew up in Ava, attended school here, and chose to make a home in this little town as an adult. Lorna has been married to her high school sweetheart for over 20 years! 🥳 During her off time you will find Lorna with her grand babies either hanging out at home, visiting the park, or watching soccer games.
During the week Lorna does her best to hold down the fort and keep the office flowing efficiently! When you walk through the front door she greets you with a smile and if you call the office, chances are Lorna will be the one to answer!

It has been brought to our attention that there are some rumors going around regarding an employee working while being sick with Covid-19 and the office being shut down, we would like to address those at this time.
An employee woke up over the holiday weekend not feeling well, with this being new and unchartered territory and the regulations constantly changing, Dr Mason felt it best to cancel one days' patients until we were able to figure out what the protocal would be.
The employee went to the Dr and after presenting her symptoms was informed that this particular Dr did not feel that the employee was sick with Covid, or anything contagious for that matter, but a test was performed to get confirmation of that diagnose. The employee has since received her results and comfirmed what the Dr diagnosed, her Covid-19 test results were NEGATIVE.
Also, we have since learned that even IF the results would have been positive, no patients or fellow employees were at high risk and the office would be able to remain open and proceed as usual seeing patients.
We thank you all for your concerns and continued support of our office.

Ava Family Dental is excited to welcome Dr Sam Zimmer!

Dr. Zimmer is from Rogersville and is looking forward to providing dental services to the Ava community.
He received his undergraduate degree from Missouri State University where he studied chemistry. Dr. Zimmer then moved to Kansas City where he completed his dental degree and honored in Endodontics (root canals) and Oral Surgery. He has been working as a general dentist in Strafford Missouri for the last two years.
On a week night you might find Dr. Zimmer coaching youth/high school wrestling or playing mandolin and piano at a local bluegrass jam session or at church. He also enjoys working with cattle and horses alongside his family.
Dr. Zimmer's passion for dentistry and his love for people gives him the drive to produce quality work and create lifelong relationships with his patients.
