Shifting the Way We See Ourselves 🪞

Body image struggles often show up quietly through avoidance, self criticism, or waiting to feel good enough before fully participating in life. One evidence based strategy used in therapy is gradual exposure. By taking small and intentional steps to face body image fears, individuals can begin to challenge unhelpful thought patterns and reduce avoidance behaviors over time.

During National Eating Disorders Awareness Week, we are highlighting practical tools that support healthier relationships with food, body image, and self worth.

If you are concerned about your child or teen’s body image or relationship with food, our team of licensed psychologists at Pediatric Psychology Associates is here to help.

Have questions about PCIT?

Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) is an evidence based therapy that supports young children with behavior and emotional regulation challenges. In this reel, Dr. Raquel Concepcion explains how PCIT works through live coaching, the types of behaviors it can help with, and what families can expect from the treatment timeline.

PCIT focuses on skill mastery rather than a set number of sessions, helping caregivers build effective tools that last beyond therapy.

Wondering if PCIT is right for your child?

Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) is an evidence based treatment for young children, typically ages 2 to 7, who are struggling with frequent tantrums, defiance, aggression, or big emotional reactions.

PCIT focuses on strengthening the caregiver child relationship while teaching practical skills that lead to better listening, improved behavior, and increased confidence at home and in public settings. Through live coaching and structured treatment phases, caregivers receive real time support that helps reduce frustration and create more positive daily interactions.

PCIT is offered in person, via telehealth, or through a hybrid approach to fit family needs.

If you are exploring therapy options for child behavior challenges, PCIT may be worth learning more about.
