We didn’t want the week to go by without acknowledging Infection Prevention Week! At Saint Therese - St. Mary of the Woods, we have a dedicated Infection Preventionist on our team, who helps keep residents, staff, and visitors safe every day.

Infection Prevention Week is a reminder that small steps make a big difference—especially for older adults. Here are five easy ways to help protect yourself and those you love:

• Wash hands often with soap and water (20 seconds).
• Stay up to date on vaccines (flu, COVID-19, and ask your clinician about RSV for adults 60+).
• If you’re sick, please postpone visits.
• Clean high-touch items—phones, walkers, canes, grab bars, remotes.
• Always cover your cough with your arm (not your hand) or consider a mask.

Today we offered to our residents, families and staff the anointing of the sick during our 11:00 mass. Clergy also visited personally those residents who were not able to attend this mass. This sacrament is source of strength, comfort and peace in times of illness, uniting our suffering with that of Christ's. For those impaired with sickness and old age, this sacrament brought to mind our need for God's mercy, healing and comfort each day. We thank our priests and our campus chaplain Mary Lou for providing a time for renewal and spiritual refreshment.
