Does Your Practice Need a Checkup?

Healthcare practitioners regularly remind their patients about the importance of regular checkups. Do you conduct regular employment-related checkups of your practice to keep your office healthy?

A complete, up-to-date set of employment policies, procedures, and documents is critical to the success of your office. A large percentage of employment-related litigation is the result of inadequate, ineffective, or unlawful office policies and procedures. Consider conducting regular checkups of your office to review your policies and documentation, and revise and update where necessary. Ask yourself these questions:

1. Do we have accurate, up-to-date job descriptions?
2. Do our handbook policies comply with current state & federal laws? Does our handbook accurately reflect our current policies?
3. Are we following lawful hiring practices?
4. Are we managing employee performance adequately?
5. Do we have established discipline protocols?
6. have we developed termination procedures that will protect the practice from suits and claims?
7. Is our staff training program adequate? Does the training comply with state and Federal laws?

Make 2019 the year you update and improve your employment-related practices.
