Brookside was honored to have 96 year old Igor Sikorsky Jr. at our community to give an aviation lecture about his father's journey, Igor is the son of Igor Sikorsky Sr. of Sikorsky Aircraft in CT. The aviation engineer who is best known for developing one of the first successful helicopters. The first successful Sikorsky helicopter was the VS-300 first flown in 1941. The VS-300 lead to the world's first production helicopter, the Sikorsky R-4. Sikorsky aircraft continues to make helicopter and advanced aircraft today, including military, heavy-lift, commercial helicopters and are working on future aircraft technology.
