NEW EPISODE: The Power of Gratitude

This week on the Care to Change Podcast, April and Larry open a heartfelt conversation about what gratitude really looks like—especially when life feels heavy.

Gratitude isn’t about pretending everything’s okay. It’s about noticing what’s still good… even when things aren’t.

April shares personally about walking through loss, and together they explore seven practical ways to invite gratitude into your day—one small moment at a time.

Highlights include:• What to do when gratitude feels impossible• How to hold both grief and gratitude• Simple practices that reframe your mindset and renew peace

Because sometimes the smallest light can change the way we see everything.

In this deeply personal and compassionate episode, April and Larry begin a new series exploring The Power of Gratitude. As the season of Thanksgiving approaches, they talk candidly about what it means to practice gratitude—especially when life doe...

No matter where life takes us, calm or stormy, one thing stays the same: God can be trusted.

Thankfully, his trustworthiness isn’t based on how we feel or what’s happening around us.
Even when we feel uncertain or unsure, confused or questioning, He remains steady and faithful.

šŸ Fall brings a whole new world of scents — crisp air, earthy leaves, cozy spices, and that unmistakable freshness that makes you want to breathe a little deeper.

We often hear visitors ask, ā€œWhat’s that amazing smell in your offices?ā€

This is part of our secret — a blend of essential oils that help create a calm, grounded atmosphere where healing happens.

This week’s Self-Care Tip: Connect with your senses in new ways. Pause to notice the smells, sights, and sounds around you. It’s a simple act that helps you stay present and grounded.

How do we take life’s hardest moments and turn them into growth, purpose, and even impact for others?

In this week’s episode, April is joined by returning guest Katie Goar — CEO, leader, mom of many (including two with special needs), and most recently, a TEDx speaker.

Katie shares her powerful story of experiencing homelessness as a child, and how what could have been a life sentence became the spark that fueled her lifelong passion for affordable housing. She opens up about breaking the silence on her past, the lessons she’s carried forward, and how she now uses her story to advocate for families across the country.

Together, April and Katie talk about:
šŸ’” Why hardships don’t have to define you — they can refine you
🌱 The three stages of growth: preparation, delivery, and impact
šŸ“– How to view difficult seasons as chapters, not your whole story
🪜 Practical steps to cross the ā€œbridgeā€ from hardship to healing
šŸ’ž Why support systems and intentional choices lead to lasting change
šŸ”„ How to turn pain into purpose so others can benefit from your journey

No matter what challenge you’re facing — grief, broken relationships, financial struggle, or past trauma — your story doesn’t have to end there. Healing begins with one decision, one step toward support, and one belief: your pain can become a powerful legacy.

Our body is a temple, a divine gift from God. It's important to honor God with our bodies because it's through this physical vessel that we express our faith, love, and service. When we take care of our bodies, we are showing gratitude for His creation.

So let's nourish it, keep it healthy, and use it to spread positivity and love.

Remember, honoring God isn't just about prayers and worship, it's also about respecting and caring for the body He has given us because physical health IS mental health.

šŸ‚ Weekly Self-Care Tip: be kind to yourself. šŸ‚

As the seasons change, so do our rhythms — in nature, in our routines, and even in our emotions.

Change takes energy. So as you adjust to new schedules, shorter days, or shifting priorities, remember to extend kindness to yourself.

You don’t have to have it all figured out right away. Grace takes root when we slow down and offer ourselves the same compassion we so easily give to others.
