This can be a dark, difficult time for some. Loss. Heartache. Unmet expectations. It can feel so lonely...

One of the things I love about Lighthouse is that all we need to do is show up. The movement, the breath, the music, and the people do something quietly powerful. Our spirits lift. We leave feeling a little more like ourselves.

And that feeling does not stop at the door. The light in us carries outward. A smile. An encouraging word. A small moment of connection.

We like to say that Lighthouse is a feeling. And it is one we get to share. It all starts with showing up and letting your light shine.

If you have ever felt unsure walking into a fitness space, know this. You belong here exactly as you are.

This photo represents a community of teachers who believe in growth, accessibility, and showing up as you are. They are strong, experienced, and deeply committed to what they teach.

But Lighthouse is not about looking a certain way or getting it perfect. It is about learning how to listen to your body. It is about building strength in a way that supports your real life. It is about meeting yourself where you are and moving from there. Some days that looks powerful and polished. Other days it looks wobbly or quiet. All of it belongs here.

Our barre and bata classes are designed to help you move safely, build strength and balance, and feel more confident in your body, not to chase perfection. We care far more about how a movement feels than how it looks. We care about progress, not comparison.

You do not need to know what you are doing before you walk in the door. You just need a body and a willingness to move it. Come shine your light, friends. 🫶

This photo was taken earlier this year during the daydream stage. I was sitting here imagining what Lighthouse could grow into and what this community might need from us next.

Now, standing in this same spot and seeing the new entrance and second studio take shape feels both surreal and exciting. This past year has brought growth, change, and a community that continues to show up for each other in the most genuine ways.

You have filled this space with laughter, sweat, support, and connection. Watching friendships form, seeing new people walk in and immediately feel welcomed, and feeling the energy in the room every single day has been the heart of this work.

Thank you for being part of Lighthouse. Thank you for trusting us as we grow and evolve. And thank you for making this more than a studio.

If you come to the studio today, you’ll notice a pretty big change… The original studio door is now closed up, and for the next stretch everyone will enter through the door down the hall. Soon, the exterior entrance will open and the flow will feel even more natural, but for now this is the path.

It feels a little strange and SO exciting all at once. The sawdust, the noise, the taped off corners, the slight detours. It is not forever, but it is part of the story of what is being built.

This phase is one more step in the larger transformation already underway. The planning, the demo, and the early noise have happened. Now the shape of what is coming is starting to reveal itself.

Thank you for your patience and flexibility as we move through this chapter. Thank you for your grace when things feel unfamiliar or when routines shift. We know construction can feel inconvenient, and your willingness to adapt means everything.

We are moving toward a space that will offer more room, more intention, and more support for the community that gathers here. Even in the mess, there is momentum, friends.

A huge THANK YOU to Family Martial Arts for hosting a free self-defense workshop at our studio last Saturday.

We had such a beautifully varied group show up — everyone learning together, side by side, and practicing self-awareness along with foundational skills for self-protection.

Sifu Rick and his son, Peter, led an incredible class and emphasized the importance of being aware, alert, and assertive in everyday life.

Thank you, Family Martial Arts, for this meaningful collaboration. We loved having you in the studio.

Let’s Talk Props: The Block

If you’ve taken a class at Lighthouse, chances are you’ve met the block. It might look simple, but it’s one of the most versatile tools in the studio.

We use it in all kinds of ways to help activate muscles, support alignment, and deepen your connection to your core. Sometimes it’s there to remind your body where it should be in space, other times it gives you a little extra lift or grounding when you need it most.

It’s the quiet accountability partner of class, keeping you honest, steady, and engaged. The block helps you move with better form, build strength, and really FEEL the work.

More prop spotlights coming soon, because every little tool in the studio has a purpose and some serious power.

We are so excited to present Guest Instructor, Sifu Rick, from Family Martial Arts Academy, who will be leading this valuable(and FREE!) workshop open to all genders, ability-levels and ages over 14.

Yesterday's Zumbata-ween class was so much fun! Bata met Zumba which meant more rhythm, more energy, and so much laughter woven into our active sequences.

Seeing everyone in costume was such a highlight and instructors Ali and Jillian showed up in full 80s Jazzercise glory! They brought the fun, they brought the burn, and honestly, leg warmers might need to make a comeback.

Everyone who came in costume was entered into a raffle to win a 4-class pack for a friend — and the winner is... 🥁

Thanks to everyone who danced, sweated, and showed up with so much joy. 🎃

Change can be messy… but also so, so good!

Construction has officially begun as Lighthouse expands into the space next door, creating room for a real front desk (finally!), a covered patio, lobby, coat room, and a beautiful second studio.

This expansion is about more than square footage. It is about connection. For years, we’ve watched friends gather in the parking lot after class, rain or shine, and this next phase gives us a space that truly supports that kind of community.

So yes, the space is a little messy and looks different right now (thank you for your patience during this transformation!), but we’re building something that will serve our community for years to come. 💛
