A school psychology intern in Kern County is conducting a research study titled The Correlation of ABA & Parental Stress Survey (CAPS-S).

The purpose of this study is to better understand the relationship between the number of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy hours a child receives and parental stress levels. Parents of children with autism are invited to participate, including those whose children do not receive ABA services. Their participation is equally important, as the study compares stress levels across groups.

Sometimes multiple diagnoses — also known as “co-occurring” or “comorbid” disorders — are made at the same time. A child who is struggling might be evaluated and diagnosed with anxiety and depression, for example. But often a child is first diagnosed with one thing and anotherdiagnosis is added later.

Why it's very common for kids to have more than one mental health or learning disorder, and how their treatment is affected.
