Dr Sandhu and the team at California Cardiovascular Institute were proud to take part in the 2026 Bakersfield Police Department Wellness Symposium today.

Supporting the health of those who serve our community is something we care deeply about. Law enforcement officers face unique physical and mental demands every day, and events like this create an important space to talk about prevention, resilience, and long term health.

Dr Sandhu had the opportunity to connect with officers and first responders from across Bakersfield, sharing insights on cardiovascular health and why proactive care matters for those working in high stress professions.

A sincere thank you to the Bakersfield Police Department Wellness Team and all of the sponsors who helped make this event possible. It is encouraging to see our community come together to prioritize the wellbeing of the people who protect and serve us every day.

Healthy circulation plays a vital role in overall wellness. ❤️

Dr. Leopoldo Puga, MD, FACC, Interventional Cardiologist, shares how California Cardiovascular Institute now offers advanced treatment options for Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD), expanding care for patients experiencing circulation issues.

Along with PAD, the team treats a range of circulatory conditions including:
• Varicose Veins
• Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT)
• Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD)

Using minimally invasive techniques, these treatments are designed to help improve blood flow, reduce discomfort, and restore mobility so patients can get back to living more comfortably and confidently.

If you’re experiencing symptoms of circulation problems, expert care may be closer than you think.

🥗 March is National Nutrition Month: a reminder that the choices we make every day can have a powerful impact on our heart health. ❤️

A balanced diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins, and healthy fats helps support healthy blood pressure, cholesterol levels, and overall cardiovascular wellness.

Small changes over time can make a big difference for your heart.
Taking steps toward better nutrition is one of the most meaningful ways to invest in long-term health and vitality.

Your heart works hard for you, nourishing it well is one of the best ways to return the favor. 💚

Heart disease often develops quietly. Many people do not notice symptoms until a serious event occurs, which is why routine screenings and early evaluation are so important.

Getting checked for heart issues does not have to be complicated. It starts with simple steps and a conversation with your provider.

You should consider a heart evaluation if you experience:
Chest discomfort or pressure
Shortness of breath
Unexplained fatigue
Palpitations or irregular heartbeat
Swelling in the legs or feet
A family history of heart disease

Even without symptoms, regular heart screenings can help identify risk factors such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and diabetes before they lead to bigger problems.

A typical cardiac evaluation may include:
A physical exam and medical history
Blood pressure and cholesterol checks
Electrocardiogram or other heart monitoring
Imaging or stress testing when needed

Taking action early allows for prevention, lifestyle changes, and treatment options that protect your long term health.

If you have concerns about your heart or have not had a recent evaluation, now is a good time to start the conversation.
