💙💛 Kern County, let’s fill our neighborhoods with blue and yellow for World Down Syndrome Day! 💛💙

On March 21, we celebrate the friends, family members, neighbors, classmates, and co-workers with Down syndrome who make our community stronger, kinder, and brighter.

One meaningful way to join the celebration?
Display a World Down Syndrome Day yard sign at your home or business.

When you place a sign in your yard or storefront, you’re sending a simple but powerful message:
✨ You are valued.
✨ You are celebrated.
✨ You belong here.

Our yard signs are available for pre-order only, and this fundraiser closes on February 28th.
Pick up will begin after March 10.
Visit the link in bio to purchase

We would love to see schools, churches, local businesses, and neighborhoods across Kern County proudly showing their support.

And on March 21, continue the celebration with us at our World Down Syndrome Day restaurant takeover at Legends (7900 Downing) — wear blue & yellow, rock your crazy socks, and celebrate alongside our community.

Let’s make this a day our city can see and feel. 💙💛

✨ The Quest Begins ✨

This Friday, Brittany and I are setting out on a little fairytale journey through Bakersfield in search of local businesses with a bit of magic to spare…

Our creative teams are ready, the vision is clear, and now we’re gathering the details that turn ideas into something unforgettable. We’re searching for thrifted treasures, costume magic, craft curiosities, and repurposed gems to help bring Once Upon a Runway to life in support of Kern Down Syndrome Network.

If you know a business we should visit or one we absolutely must meet — tag them below 👇
Every great story starts with a brave first step…

Be part of something bigger.

At Bakersfield ARC, our work has always been about more than programs or events — it’s about people. It’s about dignity. Opportunity. Belonging. And showing up for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in ways that truly matter.

In just a few weeks, we’ll gather for a special evening that brings our community together to support this mission — not just to attend an event, but to be part of something bigger than any one of us.

When you join us, you’re helping create inclusive opportunities, meaningful connections, and a future where everyone has a place to belong.

If you’ve ever wondered how to make a real impact — this is it.
We’d love to have you with us. Visit www.bakersfieldarc.org to register

We moved in!! ✨
New office, new chapter, and welcoming our intern Daniela to the KDSN team 🤍

This is a big milestone for our little, volunteer-run organization as we celebrate 11 years— and we’re honestly on cloud nine.

This step was carefully considered and mission-aligned. It represents growth, responsibility, and the incredible community that makes this work possible. And we are so proud of how far we’ve come.

Thank you to everyone who’s believed in us along the way. Huge appreciation to Bakersfield College for the PHIT internship program, Diana at DSSF for her mentorship and steady encouragement, and Seed Core Foundation for partnering with us as we build something more sustainable for people with Down syndrome in Kern County.
