💛 We are so proud of our One Door Alumni!!!
I’m Bradly Chester and this is my testimony.
If someone would have told me 4 months ago that I would be clean and sober, I would have told them they’re trippen.
My journey with addiction started with smoking ma*****na at 12 years old. At 13 I was taking OxyCodone and Xanax. Then at 18, I was in a car accident that resulted in a back injury. I was prescribed hydrocodone bitartrate and acetaminophen, also known as norcos. My temporary pain relief quickly turned into a dependency and that is where my opioid addiction began.
At 22 years old in 2015, I went to jail for 270 days. I was still actively using he**in and other substances while incarcerated. The day I was released was the day I became homeless. I have spent the last 4 years as a homeless he**in addict, believing that there was no hope for me.
Three months ago I wasn’t a believer of anything, that is when One Door Recovery came into my life. Instantly I felt like I had a family again. For the first time in a very long time, I felt accepted. I started my 7 day medical detox through One Door. I was able to push through that and I started the 12 steps. I wake up grateful every day to have a bed to sleep in. Having food on the table that didn’t come out of a garbage can. And most of all, a family.
Today, June 10, 2020, I have 96 days sober. I have a job, a family, friends, a roof over my head, a grateful mentality and God in my heart. I am able to give back to the program and share my story so that others know that they are not alone. There is always hope. Just remember to take it one day at a time. If it can happen for me, it can happen for you.
