Why Horses? 🐴🤍

Horses offer something truly unique in therapy. Their movement is rhythmic, consistent, and multi dimensional, making them powerful partners in physical, occupational, and speech therapy through Hippotherapy. In a single 30 minute session, a horse can provide an average of 3,000 sensorimotor inputs, helping riders work toward functional goals in a highly effective way.

Beyond movement, horses are incredibly attuned to emotions and behavior. In equine assisted programs, they naturally reflect what they sense, giving riders immediate feedback that supports awareness, connection, and meaningful emotional growth.

This is why horses are at the heart of the work we do at M.A.R.E.

What is Hippotherapy at M.A.R.E.? 🐴🤍

At M.A.R.E., Hippotherapy is a special way licensed therapists partner with our horses to help riders work toward their individual therapy goals. While mounted, riders experience the horse’s natural, rhythmic movement, supporting balance, strength, coordination, and communication.

Each session at M.A.R.E. is thoughtfully designed around the rider’s unique needs, creating meaningful progress through the powerful connection between horse and rider.

Now that’s horsepower 🐴💨

Fun fact: All of our horses and ponies come from a variety of backgrounds, including trail riding and competition. Each one is carefully selected and goes through a trial phase to ensure they’re well suited for therapeutic work and the diverse needs of our riders.

Our horses follow customized training, feeding, and care programs to support their well being and performance because happy, healthy horses make all the difference 🤍

Sensory Trail Update 🌿🐴

We’re excited to see this space continue to come together, and it’s been encouraging to watch both horses and riders enjoy this wonderful environment as it takes shape.

The sensory trail is being thoughtfully developed with features that support balance, focus, confidence, and body awareness. Natural textures, gentle changes in terrain, visual elements, and a calm outdoor setting are coming together to create meaningful experiences that support our therapeutic goals.

With each improvement, we’re one step closer to completing this beautiful and supportive space for our riders and horses. We’re excited to see this vision continue to come to life at M.A.R.E. 🤍🐴
