The Season of Comfort event hosted by Bakersfield Community Hospice was a powerful evening of remembrance, healing, and connection.

Families gathered to share the stories of their loved ones—speaking their names out loud, honoring their lives, and acknowledging their loss. Whether the loss was recent or many years ago, and regardless of the circumstances, Bakersfield Community Hospice was there to listen, to hold space, and to offer comfort and hope through the journey of grief.

The city of Taft welcomed B*H with open arms, and the evening was made even more meaningful with a special message of support from Mayor, Dave Noerr. We are deeply thankful for the warmth and hospitality of the Taft community, and especially for the opportunity to gather at the historic Taft Historic Fort, a place rich with history and heart.

Local Taft businesses generously donated refreshments and services, helping make this very first Season of Comfort event truly special. Their kindness and community spirit were felt in every detail of the evening.

Thank you to the following businesses that partnered with us to bring an extra touch of love:
Mercy Plaza Pharmacy
Self Brewed Coffee House
Ivy Park at Seven Oaks
Magnolia Place
Gre8t Heritage Printing

A heartfelt thank you to the Community Christian Fellowship praise and worship team for providing beautiful, soul-stirring music that gently carried us through moments of reflection and remembrance.

Special appreciation goes to Bakersfield Community Healthcare Community & Veteran Liaison Justina Cruz-Howell, a proud Taft native, for organizing this meaningful event in her hometown and bringing comfort back to her community.

We are also grateful to Bakersfield Community Hospice Chaplain Chris Frost for sharing his wisdom, compassion, and insight on loss and grief, offering words that resonated deeply with all who attended.

To the Taft community: thank you for trusting us, welcoming us, and allowing Bakersfield Community Healthcare to walk alongside you. Your stories, your love, and your resilience are what made this Season of Comfort truly unforgettable.

Get you a group of friends who aren't afraid to be silly while giving back to the community.

Bakersfield Community Healthcare community and veteran liaison Justina Cruz-Howell teamed up with her tribe of friends, called the "Redwoods Women's Group" for a holiday celebration like no other, the first ever
"Jolly Jingle Parade"

Together they brought holiday magic, music, laughter, and everyone's favorite inflatable costumes straight to our senior living communities. From Jingle Bells to belly laughs, they made memories that will last far beyond the season.

Bakersfield Community Healthcare is grateful for our amazing community partners with big hearts, with representatives ranging from Downtown Business Association, Powerhub Bakersfield, Golden State Mortgage, Boys and Girls Club of Bakersfield, North of the River Recreation, Exp Realty, Access Capital, BelFor Bakersfield, Son Light Construction, Trucordia Insurance, The Motherhood Project, April McGill Photography, Charcuterie by M, and so many others in the community who were so happy to join us in bringing smiles to the faces of our senior community.

Thank you to the following communities for welcoming our mascot "Boogie" and his friends into your facilities:

What an honor it was to support and attend this year's ADAKC Heart Never Forgets Gala. This year's theme was Homecoming 2025, where participants represented their alma maters by wearing their school colors, cheerleading uniforms, letterman jackets, and, of course, homecoming dresses.

Community Liaison and Alzheimer's educator, Justina Howell, proudly serves on the gala committee and facilitates Boogie with B*H at the ADAKC campus twice a month. Being part of the event from planning to celebrating was truly special.

The Homecoming Gala isn't just a beautiful evening of school colors, music, and heartfelt memories; it is an event with purpose. All proceeds directly support ADAKC programs that provide education, respite care, support groups, activity engagement, and essential services for individuals and families navigating Alzheimer's and other dementias.

ADAKC works tirelessly to surround caregivers and participants with compassion, tools, and hope, and B*H proudly stands beside them. Thank you, ADAKC, for the incredible work you do and for continuing to serve the community/

Thank you, Ivy Park, your professional paint night was exactly what we all needed before the holiday...connection, creativity, and community. We may not be Picassos in real life, but for a couple of hours, we sure felt like it.

Thank you, Lindsay and Ailey, for being such warm and welcoming hosts. You always go above and beyond, and it shows in every detail. Events like this remind us how important it is to step away from our busy schedules and take time for employee bonding, networking, and strengthening relationships within the industry.

During this season of Thanksgiving, we are thankful for the space, hospitality, and the opportunity to share laughs and creativity with fellow professionals. Here's to many more nights like this!

It was an honor to be asked to participate and to be present at this year's Vet Fest at Bakersfield College. We had the opportunity to sit alongside many dedicated veteran organizations and connect directly with Veteran students seeking resources, support, and guidance.

Being recognized as a company that serves veterans is something we hold with great pride. At Bakersfield Community Healthcare, we remain committed to honoring those who have served, providing compassionate care, and strengthening our partnerships with the veteran community.

A special thank you to our Community and Veteran Liaison, Justina Howel,l who works tirelessly to build and maintain meaningful relationships throughout Kern County. Her dedication helps ensure our veterans feel seen, supported, and valued.

We appreciatedthe Bakersfield College Veteran Center for allowing us to be a part of this impactful event.

In 2023, two of our very own were recognized at the inaugural Aging Network Award Ceremony-a moment that still fills us with pride:

Todd Jeffries, Director of Community Relations, received the Legacy Award recognizing his leadership and commitment to the years of service in the industry.

Justina Howell, Community and Veteran Liaison, received the Community Engagement Award, a testament to the relationships built, the outreach completed, and the heart poured into the community.

These recognitions matter; they remind us why supporting events like this is so important because they spotlight the people who work tirelessly behind the scenes, strengthen the aging network, and ensure our seniors are seen, valued, and supported. Celebrating one another not only lifts spirits, but it also strengthens the community we serve.

It was truly an honor to be part of this special day again this year, standing alongside colleagues, partners, and friends who share the same mission.

Congratulations to the 2025 nominees and recipients-
Your dedication keeps the heart of our aging community beating strong. Bakersfield Community Healthcare is proud to cheer you on!

Last Thursday, we hosted our Fall Thankful Mixer at the Bakersfield Community Adult Activity Center, and what a beautiful evening it turned out to be!

Our Bakersfield Community liaisons pulled their talents and creativity together to create a warm, inviting atmosphere for all of our amazing referral partners. From the fall décor to the heartfelt conversations, the night truly captured the spirit of gratitude and community.

A special shout-out to Charcuterie By M — her stunning board was a huge hit and had everyone talking!

Events like this remind us of the importance of building, maintaining, and nurturing meaningful relationships with our partners throughout Kern County.

Your trust, collaboration, and continued support allow us to better serve our seniors, veterans, and families every single day.
