We wanted to share this weather update regarding the lake effect snow about to impact our region, and we kindly remind everyone to take extra care, plan ahead, and prioritize safety during this period of winter weather. ❄️🤍

🚨 WINTER STORM WARNING – ONONDAGA COUNTY 🚨

A Winter Storm Warning for lake-effect snow is in effect 7 p.m. tonight – 7 a.m. Wednesday.
A 4-day snow event is expected, bringing 12" up to 30" in some areas. Snow begins tonight and continues through Thursday.

🌨 What to Expect
• Heavy lake-effect snow
• Whiteout conditions – low visibility + high winds
• Delays & possible closures
• Travel may be dangerous — avoid driving if possible

🚗 If You Must Travel
• Fully clean snow/ice off your vehicle
• Drive slowly – do not use cruise control
• Leave extra distance between vehicles
• Don’t crowd snowplows
⚠ Roads may be slippery even if they just look wet

🧊 Stay Prepared
• Check the forecast regularly
• Update your emergency supply kit
• Prepare now so your household stays safe throughout this extended event

🧹 Safe Snow Shoveling
• Dress warmly
• Stay hydrated
• Lift small amounts at a time
• Take frequent breaks

🚘 If Stranded in Your Vehicle
• Run engine 10 minutes per hour to stay warm
• Crack windows slightly for fresh air
• Keep exhaust pipe clear of snow to avoid CO poisoning
