It's not all positive news during treatments. He started Radiation on Monday and had his 2nd session yesterday. He is tolerating that well so far.

Last night as I was flushing his PICC line, I noticed Jack felt warm. There is an established protocol to call the Doctor On Call for any fever more than 100.4 (38C). His temperature was 101.2 (38.44C). Off he went to the Pediatric ED at Upstate. He was admitted and now we sit at Golisano and his blood cultures are showing E. Coli. He is now on antibiotics to treat that and still went to Radiation today.

He feels crappy and is super fatigued, but still handling everything with as much grace as he can. His strength amazes us every day. We are so proud of him!

Today Jack finished his 7th (of 16) cycle of chemo and his first 28 Radiation treatments (5x/week for 5 1/2 weeks). He seems to have handled both things very well. We are so thankful that so far his treatments seem to be working and he is now in the phase that is going to kill the rest of this tumor and give him back the rest of his life back.

Today is Jack's 15th birthday. He is spending part of it at the Upstate Cancer Clinic and the WONDERFUL staff here has been making it so special for him.

Thank you to his whole care team for everything! You make our frequent trips here less stressful, less scary and surprisingly "fun". Jack has opened up and is so much more outgoing here than he ever was before his diagnosis and that is because of all of you.

His doctors, Dr. Comito, Dr. Tallarico, Dr. Aridgides, Brooke, NP and all of the others who helped reverse the neurological deficits he was experiencing in January, who are starting Radiation on the remains of the tumor next week and who are fierce advocates of Jack and his best interests.

His nurses at the Upstate Cancer Clinic and on 11G. Rachel, Savannah, Kylah, Shayla, Kaeleigh, Katie, Shaun, Gina, Danielle, Tara, Elizabeth, and all of the others (there are too many of you to name), but you are truly the glue to these units and your knowledge is unmatched, but your desire to work in Pediatric Hem/Oncology is a calling and we are all so blessed to have you watching over our child(ren)/loved ones.

All of the other support staff, Erica, Stephanie, Kristen, Taylor and the Child Life Team. You step in on some of the worst days of our lives and help to bring information, comfort and compassion to an amazingly stressful situation.

My family would not have been able to make it through the start of this journey without every one of you lifting us and supporting us through all of these moments.

On Jack's 15th birthday, we say THANK YOU!!! A few months ago we were a family of 4, with a great family and community behind us, but you have all truly become part of our family now and we are forever grateful for helping us get Jack to this day.

April 6 Update

We had a very nice Easter weekend and hope everyone had a fun-filled, relaxing weekend filled with family and friends.

Today, Jack went to see his Radiation Oncologist for his consultation and simulation for his Radiation treatments that start next Monday and run 5 days a week for 5 and a half weeks. He will be continuing his bi-weekly chemo during the Radiation, so if you are so inclined prayers for an easy and successful treatment are welcomed.

If you are able, donating to our GoFundMe would be appreciated!

March 12 Update

This week was a good week!

Jack has been feeling pretty good since his last round of chemo was delayed from last Wed/Thu. He had a good weekend. He had energy and was in great spirits. For the first time in almost a month, he was interested in getting on games and calls with friends!

On Monday, Jack had a new MRI done to see the progress of his treatments.

On Tuesday, we spent almost 8 hours at the clinic getting treatment and then headed right to his Wrestling Banquet. He was awarded the perseverance award, with 2 of his teammates who have also overcome difficult things.

Oh - we also got results of the MRI, which showed a "Marked Decrease" in the size of his tumor!

Wednesday was another day of treatment. He was pretty tired last night after the last couple days.

Today, we took it easy, but he says he is still feeling pretty good right now. I can say that we all needed this week of good days because we were hitting a pretty low point mentally in our house.

Thats all for now, but fingers crossed we have another good weekend. Hope everyone else does too!!!

Jack was just interviewed for CNY Central. If you want to see his story it should be on the 10 and 11 broadcasts on CBS and NBC tonight.

Thank you to Pit Crew Wrestling Club, Baldwinsville Wrestling and to all of the wrestlers who came to the support Jack at the clinic at the Wrestling Club today!

The sports department may also run a story on him later this week, so stay tuned.

March 1 update - we have had alot of appointments and visits to the clinic over the last couple weeks. Jack has not been feeling well.

On Friday, he had his braces removed and he had a second blood transfusion. We had hoped that would perk him up over the weekend, but while he did say his stomach felt less nauseous, he still spend the last couple days in bed. He has no energy and just wants to sleep.

He has some important follow up appointments over the next couple weeks. Tuesday, he meets with the Upstate Orthopedic Spine Team, happily he will walk into this appointment on his own. Dr. Tallarico has not seen him since his first hospital stays, so Jack is excited to show him that he is walking on his own now.

Wednesday, he starts Cycle 5 of treatment and on March 9, he has his repeat MRI, this will tell the team if surgery or radiation is the best next step.

Please pray for our boy, our family and all of the Healthcare providers who are working on Jack's case.
