Healthy Recipe of the Month: Steamed Artichokes

Looking for a simple, family-favorite appetizer that’s both healthy and delicious? Steamed artichokes are a classic — and easier to make than you think!

📝 Ingredients:
2 large fresh artichokes
1 lemon, halved
2–3 garlic cloves, smashed
Olive oil, butter, or sauce of your choice
Salt

👨‍🍳 Prep:
1️⃣ Rinse thoroughly, spreading leaves to remove grit.
2️⃣ Slice off the top inch, trim the stem, and snip pointy tips.
3️⃣ Rub with lemon to prevent browning.

🔥 Steam:
Fill a pot with 2 inches of water, lemon, garlic, and salt.
Insert a steamer basket and bring to a boil.
Add artichokes stem-side down, cover, and steam 25–45 minutes (until leaves pull out easily).

🍋 Serve with: melted butter + lemon, garlic aioli, or balsamic vinaigrette.

👉 Pull off the leaves, dip the base, scrape with your teeth, and discard the rest. Once you reach the heart, remove the fuzzy choke and enjoy the best part! 💚

Monday–Friday: 8 AM–6 PM (flexible as needed)
Saturday: Not currently scheduled, but let us know if you need a Saturday appointment — we’ll do our best to accommodate!
